<![CDATA["VERY, VERY, VERY RARE & SUPER NICE...LIKE NEW IN THE ORIGINAL CASE!"... CANTONESE HAND CARVED IVORY CHESS SET purchased during World War II by my uncle while he was overseas in the U.S. Army, making the set approximately 66 years old. The CHESS PIECES ARE STUNNING and are MADE OF 100% CANTONESE HAND CARVED IVORY. They are in LIKE NEW CONDITION, the white king's sword on the top of his scepter had to be reattached as it came off due to age deterioration of the original glue that held it in place. The sword is not broken. The CASE IS ORIGINAL but is in poor condition due to age, which is typical of these kinds of cases made during the 1940's. The value of the chess set is reserved in the ivory pieces, not the case. The case closed measures 18 inches wide x 9 inches deep x 5 inches high. The case and board is 18 inches square when open. The red king measures 6 inches tall to the top of his scepter and the white king measures 5 ½ inches tall to the top of his scepter. All chess pieces are felted. This UNIQUE and EXTREMELY RARE CHESS SET WILL MAKE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION and IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANY SERIOUS CHESS SET COLLECTOR OR ENTHUSIAST! Buyer to pay actual shipping cost plus insurance based on final selling price OR MAY PICK UP ITEM IN PERSON. International welcome. Some restrictions apply for certain countries. NOTE: We use FedEx Shipping when we can, GROUND or EXPRESS, NOT UPS. We have used FedEx for several years now. We have found FedEx to be more reliable than UPS! ]]>
