I'm a working producer and director and hire DP's all the time, and hired videographers many years ago during a different stage of my career. I haven't posted on here in years, but your post is so misleading I feel the need to correct it... A videographer captures an event with a DV or HD camera. A DP, on the other hand, films or shoots a story, makes creative decisions about framing, lighting, opticals, stock, camera movement, etc. He helps a director to guide a story visually. He works with a production designer and costume designer to apply a color palette that makes the story work. A good DP does all of these things regardless of whether the format is film or video. By your definition, Harris Savides' work on ZODIAC would be considered videography. I beg you to reexamine your "terminology".]]>
