We have an interesting assignment for the right person – *probably* someone with a mathematics/engineering/computer science background. As one of New York’s fastest-growing tech companies, we advertise a lot online (Google, Yahoo, banner ads, etc). Our marketing department needs someone who is good with numbers, to help us:

- Analyze our ad campaigns
- Build a system for working out what is effective
- Connect the dots between multiple systems
- Spot patterns and make changes to improve our advertising

You could call it an ‘online marketing manager’ – but people who think of themselves as ‘marketers’ are often bad with numbers, systems and trend analysis. So it is more like a ‘marketing metrics manager’ or a ‘marketing analyst’.

If the challenge sounds intriguing, please get in touch. We do not require specific experience (although familiarity with Web analytics or online advertising would not count against you). The main requirement is to be smart with numbers and to think both systematically and creatively about number sets.

It will be a fun job for the right person, and the company pays generously, with a great working environment.

To apply, please write 4 (four) short bullet points on why the opportunity sounds like a good fit for you, and attach your resume.
Let me begin by telling you my story.
If you’re in a coding guru or into internet marketing this is for you. Please take the time to read this over. This is nothing more than an honest attempt by a married guy in Kirkland, Wa to find maybe three or four people to help me expand my one man operation.
In March of 2000 I started an internet advertising firm out of my bedroom in Kirkland, Washington. I was looking to make some money on the internet and when the large .com I was working for went out of business with the internet crash, I was left without a job. The company owed me almost 130K in commissions and after a lot of threatening they gave me about 25,000 products that they owned. The owner just wanted to be done with me, and I agreed to let him out of what he owed me in exchange for these products.
I took what they were doing, tweaked it a little, and started out on my own with $2100.00 dollars.
By December of that year I made almost $234,909.00 in total income with little overhead selling a much needed product to online businesses.
By October of 2005, I was making almost $700K a year take home. I will gladly show you my income tax returns to prove it. I can sell each one of my products from $2500.00 to 150K each to online businesses that in turn reap huge benefits from this product, mainly getting in the top three spots on Google.
The product is easy to sell, and one of a kind. I have no competition because I own all of the best products and there is NO way to get any more of this particular product. I am talking about domain names.
I own about 22000 domain names that were purchased way back in 1992-1993. They are worth millions of dollars. Last estimate was 23 million.
The reason they are worth so much is because they are good domain names ending in .com. You see, when you own a good domain name that ends in .com only and that matches what a consumer types into Google, your #1 on Google and you DON’T HAVE TO PAY GOOGLE.
So if you are looking for an attorney in Acapulco what will you type into Google? “Acapulco attorneys”.
Go ahead and do it and see who is #1. What if you are looking for a lawyer in Acapulco? Go ahead, type in “Acapulco lawyer” into Google and press enter. Who is #1?
What if you are looking to get your home pressure washed? You live in Seattle right? What would you type in? “Seattle pressure washing”. Go ahead and see who is #1.
I accidently let one of my pressure washing names expire a few weeks ago. Just to prove a point, I repurchased it, slammed up a simple site, and placed it on Google. Go and Google "Alabama pressure washing" and press enter. In just two days it's gone from page 2328, to page #1. Soon it will be #1.
I think you get the idea.
If you just started in business today, your IT guy would tell you that a domain name is EVERYTHING. They would then begin to look for good ones, but they would find out that all of them were gone in the early 90’s. All gone.
They then have to pay Google to get placement. I can tell you from experience that Google charges A LOT OF MONEY for first page. They would spend 1000’s in a month in high competitive industries.
So basically I was one of these guys that got all of the good names way back when and I have been selling them off one at a time.
There is this kid at church that lost his job about three years ago. I took pity on him and invited him over, trained him, and cut him loose with 25 domain names.
Last year he made $248,909.33 in commissions working from a laptop.
I was completely happy with the income I am making until this New Year when my wife started getting concerned and basically said that she wanted me to spend more time with the kids and her. It cut me to the core, and I felt bad about leaving all of the time with my laptop to a coffee shop every day. You see, it’s not just working, but I am really involved with my church so much that I am never home.
I was talking with Brendan (the kid that helps me sell) and we figured out that are our current pace, it would take us about 22 years to sell all of our names.
I pride myself in NOT having to wear a suit and tie, and NOT having an office space, employees, stress, problems, etc. but after realizing this truth I have decided to speed up the process and get some help. I will make more money, and those helping me will make a good living doing something fun for once, and we can have a blast doing it.
Since I don’t want employees, I am offering the positing of INTERNET ADVERTISING C0NSULTANT. You will work as a private contractor or sub contractor. I will pay you 15% of every name you sell and the best part is that you don’t have to do any paperwork. My guy sends out targeted emails to sell these advising people that we have the domain for sale, but now that the spam filters are tougher, it makes it harder. We don’t have anyone that can make sure 300-500 emails stick in the inbox. I don’t really care how you get the leads, but once you get a lead on a domain name, forward it to me and I will close it for you, do the paperwork, take care of the incoming wire, and as soon as that wire hits I will CUT YOU A CHECK FOR 15%!!!
Even if you don't want to work for me, or work with me, you may know of three or four people that would want and need a good domain name. If they are an attorney, realtor, plastic surgeon, and or a mortgage dude then don't be embarrassed. Just be honest and tell me. I will send you the names I have for your friends and you can sell them and I will cut a check to you. I just need to move my names.
I do know one thing. I have all of the good names that produce #1 results and businesses need them.
People need these names. Names I've sold like oregonattorney.com, seattletrialattorney.com, etc..
Anyone that pays Google for placement will buy the name on the spot.
Sometimes you have to educate people on the importance of a name because many business owners don’t know or have a clue about how domain names work. One domain name can take a nobody business and when they are #1 on Google make them instant successes. SEO guys HATE me because they thrive on helping consumers get on that first page. Maybe your an SEO guy. I don't hate you, but maybe you can move some of these for me.
Since there is never no face to face with the customers, no need to worry about appearances.
SO I am looking for my geeks. My kids. You must have the following or please do not apply:

• Aggressive prospecting skills a must
• Successful track record of B2B sales experience
• Must be a self starter and highly self disciplined
• Superior organization skills with attention to detail
• Results/goal oriented
• Competitive
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Computer skills, and the ability to write code would be an asset like you can't believe.
You must also know and learn how to get leads, find interested people, and make contact either by email or phone or fax. I am not concerned with how you do it. You may have experience with code, and can write an email extracting software that gets emails and send them out to selected leads based on the domain name, or you may have a zillion business contacts you can hit up one by one. I don’t care as long as you’re moving my inventory.
You may have coding experience, can email 400 people with a stroke of a key, and make zillions doing this.
Please email back with a resume, and most importantly, a one pager on why I should consider you for this opportunity.
