Responsibilities include picture research, sequencing and layout, as well as book and promotional design. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and for design interns, InDesign, Quark, Photoshop. Print and web experience is desirable.

EDITORIAL, MARKETING, EXHIBITION:

Editorial internships’ responsibilities include general writing, caption and flap copy creation, and copyediting assignments. Excellent writing, researching, and editing skills. Proofreading experience is desirable.
<br>
<br>
Marketing internships involve press liaison and promotion of books and shows and events. Exhibition internships also include production as well as promotion of new and current exhibitions internationally. (Umbrage has ten exhibits touring.)
<br>
<br>
All Internships involve a wide variety of activities, including library and other research on new titles, printing and production liaison, as well as general office work, including phone, computer, errands, and copying. Interns must be willing and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Ideal candidates will have excellent writing, researching, and editing skills; be comfortable on the phone; and be interested in current affairs, art, photography, human rights, publishing, web sites, museum work, or marketing, and will be organized, energetic, and eager to jump feet-first into chaos. This is a fairly non-hierarchical space so we expect that everyone will pitch in to use his or her special skills.
