<![CDATA[A volunteer at the shelter writes the following about sweet Brindy... Brindy is an elegant 10-month old reddish-brown and white female with amber eyes. She wears white socks and has a white chest. Brindy is petite and very skinny – she could definitely use a few extra pounds. She loves being petted, is sweet and affectionate, and is very friendly to everyone and everything! She friendly to her doggy companions and even kids came to pet her and everyone was happy happy. Brindy is calm and snuggle, leaning and hiding her beautiful head in my lap and leg as we got acquainted. Brindy scored fabulously with our behaviorist who gave her a stellar NO CONCERN. Brindy was sadly found a stray wearing nothing but harness and a muzzle - not sure why she was muzzled because EVERYONE loves loves Brindy and never in our experience with her was there ever chance of nipping or puppy mouthiness. She completely great on the leash and so well behaved - so sweet and so calm. Brindy seems housebroken as she saved all her pee for an outside walk. Brindy needs your help urgently. She's absolutely lovely and deserves a second chance in life. Come meet her and see for yourself how wonderful she is - even through all she's been through. Come be her hero. They were dropped off at the pet store where I work because the family that has their mother did not have the means to care for all of them, and I am fostering them and finding them homes as the store did not have the space to care for them while we found them homes. There are some all dark tan ones and some that are white and dark tan. I am not charging a rehoming or adoption fee. All that matters to me is that they find a good home. <![CDATA[Brooklyn Animal Action, a new cat rescue organization in Brooklyn, is looking for loving temporary foster homes for kittens and cats. It's kitten season, and rescuers are overwhelmed with little ones. We need places for them to recuperate from life on the streets while they get their basic vet care and if necessary get socialized. We also need fosters for older, hard to place cats. Any amount of time you can offer will be gratefully accepted. ]]>

<![CDATA[Mom Jefferson had a home once upon a time but she was not spayed and got pregnant. Her owner gave her kittens away, but did not get her spayed. Of course soon after she got pregnant again so her owner tossed her onto the street, where she had to fend for her self, terrified and pregnant and had to find shelter. Winter had set in and she was cold and frightened. In the meantime, neighborhood kids thought it would be fun to paint her all white. Eventually she found shelter in an abandoned Crack House on Jefferson Ave. There was no heat or electricity but somehow she gave birth and kept her babies alive. In February they were trapped by Animal Care and Control and brought to the shelter. However at 8 weeks old, the kittens were wild. Therefore the shelter could not keep them and they were about to be euthanized. Rosie from Brooklyn Animal Action took them home, treated all their health problems and socialized the kittens into nice friendly playful young cats. Finally they are ready to find their loving forever homes - maybe yours? Mom Jefferson was a very devoted mother under difficult circumstances. She is about 18 months old and has an athletic build that's filled out since she left the streets. She has big eyes and ears like a Savannah cat. Mom is very mellow and peaceful. She sleeps quietly on the bed, but likes to chase and wrestle with her kittens. Mom still lets her kittens suckle on her though she is no longer producing milk and her kittens are half her size already. Mom "chirps" to talk to you when you come in the room. She gets along with other cats, but ideally if you do not have another cat she would like to keep any one of her kittens by her side (they are listed separately). Mom is spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV & is up to date on all her shots. <![CDATA[My foster folks call me "Fridge formerly known as Domino," but I don't think that's quite fair! It's true, my name IS Domino. I was found not so long ago living in Prospect Park. My rescuer searched and searched for my parents but didn’t have any luck. They aren’t sure if I was dumped or I escaped. I honestly don’t know how I got out there … one day I’m cozy in a warm home and then the next day I’m living in the park. Living outside is not for me – I like the good life! I am so suave and good-natured that I was taken quite by surprise to be outside. No more outdoor living for this kid! The vet thinks that I am right around 2 years old. He said that I am very healthy. I have received all of my vaccines, am negative for FELV/FIV, dewormed, flea free, and have been neutered. I am also very handsome if you haven’t already noticed. My fur is plushy soft and I love, love, love to be brushed. And I've definitely filled out since getting off the streets - but it's all muscle! I am looking for a "roomie," someone I can talk to and hang out with. In exchange I will make you feel like there is no one better in this world than you. I love people and I'm a very cool cat: You want your space? You got it. When you're in the mood to rub my neck or want a companion, I cuddle. I get along really well with everyone I meet. I love catnip and just being around people. I can often be found sitting by your feet waiting for you to love on me. When you hold out your hand, I always rub my head right into it. If you put your hand up higher then I will raise up on my back legs to meet it for a quick rub. You won’t regret inviting me into your home and your heart. I guarantee not to disappoint! <![CDATA[Maiko (or Michael) is a lovely one-year-old stray cat. He was found on the street very tiny (only a few weeks old) and alone, and was taken home by a friend who then became very allergic to him. I agreed to care for him until she found him a new home, but I ended up falling in love and not letting him go. :) Now I have to leave the country, and for some time I will not have a fixed home, so I cannot take him with me. I am looking for a new, loving home for my boy. Maiko is very active and funny. He loves to run around and climb furniture. For example, his favorite nap spot is on top of my kitchen cabinets, where he also likes to be when I'm cooking, watching me from the top. He also likes to enter cabinets and closets, and now that it's summer, his favorite place in the house is inside the fridge. :) Maiko is very well-educated. He eats dry cat food (not much into the wet stuff), but only drinks water from the tap. He stands next to the kitchen or bathroom sink and looks at you when he wants water. He loves a treat. He only uses his litter box. He is very playful, and will play with literally anything that moves. He has many toys. He is also cuddly, and usually comes to my lap when I am on the computer or watching a movie. Of course he also has some down sides. He can get naughty when playing and even bitey. Usually I distract him with his toys or have a water spray ready. :) He hates to have his nails clipped, and I usually have to do it with the help of a friend. Other than that, he is just a normal cat. Overall, I love him, and I am heartbroken to have to give him up. Maiko has been neutered and is in perfect health. <![CDATA[Mom Jefferson had a home once upon a time, but she was not spayed and got pregnant. Her owner gave her kittens away, but did not get her spayed. Of course, soon after she got pregnant again so her owner tossed her onto the street, where she had to fend for her self, terrified and pregnant, and find shelter. Winter had set in and she was cold and frightened. In the meantime, neighborhood kids thought it would be fun to paint her all white. Eventually she found shelter in an abandoned crack house on Jefferson Ave. There was no heat or electricity, but somehow she gave birth and kept her babies alive. In February they were trapped by AC & C and brought to the shelter. However at 8 weeks old, the kitties were wild. Therefore the AC & C shelter could not keep them, and they were about to be euthanized. Rosie from Brooklyn Animal Action took them home, treated all their health problems and socialized the kittens into friendly, playful young cats. Finally they are ready to find their loving forever homes - maybe yours? LATEST UPDATE: Two kittens still available! The kittens are now 5-6 months old, spayed or neutered, tested negative for FIV and FeLV and up to date on all shots. Marion is a very dainty young kitty with a sleek body. She is shy at first when she meets new people, but after a few hours she is very sweet and loving. Marion likes to greet you at the door and roll over all flirty to show her belly and get petted. She likes to dance around and wrestle with her sisters and brothers, so she would be unhappy as a single cat. If you have another kitty already she would be happy also. <![CDATA[My husband and I are expecting our first child this month and will no longer have the time necessary to care for our loving guinea pigs. We have two female guinea pigs: Ginger whom we adopted two years ago is probably around three to four years old, she is an Abyssinian with Black and Reddish Brown bed-head hair. Our other female guinea pig, Cookie, a black and white short-hair is only a year and a half old. We housed them together until Ginger became territorial. Now they are housed next to each other and can communicate together without fighting. Both our guinea pigs are extremely friendly and love to be held and pet. They enjoy fresh veggies/apples and baths. We would love to send them to the same home as they have bonded but if we must we are willing to split them up. We love our guinea pigs but can't maintain the attention and care they need with an infant in the house. They will come with their 29x44 cage made with cholorplast and modular shelving grids that can be rearranged (see below link for more information), bedding, hay ball, play house, water bottles, food, and small animal carriers. We are asking for a 20 dollar adoption fee and an assurance that they will be well taken care of by an experienced owner. Along with having to move out of our former home we now have to find a new home for our 11 month old Maltepoo named Jimmy because our new apartment doesn't allow pets. Its one of the hardest things I've had to do. We don't have any of his shot records because he was bought from my co-worker whose dog had puppies. I do know that he had his rabies vaccination this year. The reason for not taking Jimmy to the local shelter is because we know that he will not be able to cope with being away from a home environment. There is a rehoming fee of $150 thats only to ensure that he is going to a good home. If I wasn't in such a bad financial situation I wouldn't do this. If I ever expected to have gone into debt I would not have purchased Jimmy because it wouldn't be fair to him or our family. Marion is a very dainty young kitty with a sleek dancer's body. She is shy at first when she meets new people, but within a few hours she is very sweet & loving and worth that little bit of waiting. <![CDATA[Spring . . . the most adorable, loveable little girl! Spring, a 3 ½ month old, female, black and white tuxedo kitty, was rescued in Kensington, Brooklyn just days after she was born. Sadly, we believe her devoted mom was hit by a car, because she never returned for her kitten. Fortunately for Spring, she was found by a loving family trained in caring for tiny "bottle babies," and she has flourished ever since. Spring loves to play and will endlessly entertain you with her silly stunts and antics. For Spring, life is a party and you're invited! She is very used to people, loves everyone, loves playing, loves other kitties too! This little one is healthy; she’s tested negative for FELV/FIV, and she’s vaccinated, dewormed and flee free. <![CDATA[Poor Mom Jefferson had a home once upon a time but she was not spayed & got pregnant. Her owner gave her kittens away, but did bother to get her spayed. Of course soon after she got pregnant again so her owner tossed her onto the street, where she had to fend for her self, terrified & pregnant & had to find shelter. Winter had set in & she was cold & frightened. In the meantime, neighborhood kids thought it would be fun to paint her all white. Eventually she found shelter in an abandoned Crack House on Jefferson Ave. With no heat or electricity she gave birth & kept her babies alive. In February, the bank had Animal Care and Control pick them up. Animal Care and Control simply doesn't have space for all the abandoned kitties and the whole family was about to be euthanized when we took them home, socialized the kittens, cared for Mom et al and now Mom and the kittens need a wonderful forever home. Mom Jefferson was a very devoted mother under difficult circumstances. She is about 18 months old & is sleek with an athletic build. She has big eyes & ears like a Savannah cat. Mom is very mellow & peaceful. She sleeps quietly on the bed, but likes to chase & wrestle with her kittens. Mom "chirps" to talk to you when you come in the room. She gets along with other cats, but ideally if you do not have another cat she would like to keep any one of her kittens by her side. Mom is spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV & is up to date on all her shots, litter-trained and ready for a real home. I honestly don’t know how I got out there … one day I’m cozy in a warm home and then the next day I’m living in the park, cold and hungry. Living outside is not for me, I was terrified! I wasn’t dirty when my rescuer found me so I must not have been outside for very long thankfully. The vet thinks that I am right around 2 years old. He said that I am very healthy. I have received all of my vaccines, am negative for FELV/FIV, dewormed, flea free, and have been neutered. I have received the works! I am also very handsome if you haven’t already noticed. My fur is plushy soft and I love, love, love to be brushed. I am looking for a "roomie", someone I can talk to and hang out with. In exchange I will make you feel like there is no one better in this world than you. I love people and I'm a very cool cat: You want your space? You got it. When you're in the mood to rub my neck or want a companion, I cuddle. I get along really well with everyone I meet. I love catnip and just being around people. I can often be found sitting by your feet waiting for you to love on me. When you hold out your hand, I always rub my head right into it. <![CDATA[Hi, I’m Sadie! I’m a 2-year-old female Labrador/pit bull mix, and I was rescued from death row at Animal Care & Control in Manhattan by my foster parents. They tell me I’m a beautiful, sweet and extremely intelligent dog. I love people, but I don’t always get along with other dogs—so I’m probably best being the only pet in your home. I’m 45–50 pounds, my coat is dark brown and I have adorable white paws. I’ve been checked by a vet and I’m in great health—up to date on all of my shots and spayed. I am also housebroken. I’m smart, a fast learner, and with some dedicated training, I’ll be a great family dog. I just love belly rubs and snuggling with humans! I have a ton of energy and I need a home where I can get a lot of exercise. The ideal owner either has experience with bully breeds or is familiar with our temperament and needs.
