We would like a well equipped kitchen, computer access (wifi), washing machine and if at all possible, a terrasse. In exchange, we have a very attractive 2 bedroom apartment located between the East Village and Union Square. This area has lots of trees, greenery and flowers of all kinds, a fountain just outside the building and many benches to take the setting in should you like a little fresh air and relaxation from the energy of New York City. There is also a park nearby for picnics or just to watch the boats go up and down the river. One bedroom has a bed for two and the other bedroom a single bed. We have TV, cable, wifi, a well equipped kitchen, and laundry on ground floor of building. The neighborhood has lots of restaurants, bars and movies with easy access to bus lines and the subway. Union Square is a 10-minute walk, as is our favorite Italian restaurant on Avenue B. A Japanese restaurant is on the corner. We will take very good care of your apartment and expect the same of you. <![CDATA[Hello! We're a married couple with no kids, no pets, and a couple of basil plants out on the back deck. Edi is a graphic designer who specializes in print design for nonprofits. Jeff, a freelance writer, also works as a word processor for a class action law firm. Together, we've been incredibly happy here in Bernal Heights but enjoy traveling--we spent a month in Buenos Aires a few years ago and really enjoyed having the extended time to get to know the city. So our hope is we can find someone who would be interested in spending October in San Francisco while we spend the month in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The two have rapidly become one of our favorite places (after a friend moved to Brooklyn a few years back) and we've enjoyed each trip we've made together. San Francisco in October is the most beautiful time of the year for the city, with several street festivals occurring at that time to take advantage of the weather, which is frequently warmer and lovelier than during the summer. Our unit is a two bedroom apartment--with one of the bedrooms converted to an office--in a seven unit building (that survived the 1906 earthquake!), and is spacious, clean, airy, and safe. It has a large kitchen area, bathroom, living room and back work area. We have a large, comfy inflatable bed in case you want to use the office as a second bedroom. Although we’ve never shelled out for cable, we’ve got high speed wi-fi running through the entire apartment on a secure network. Who needs the boob tube when you’ve got YouTube? There's access to a backyard area with grills and barbecues, perfect for relaxing in the sunny weather. (Trade secret: we actually have that in Bernal Heights!) We're right off Precita Park in Bernal Heights, with convenient street parking, easy access to public transit, and a ten minute walk to BART. We’re within walking distance of all the great shops, restaurants, and bars in the Mission District, as well as the developing 24th Street corridor, home to foodie faves like Humphry Slocombe, which got great reviews in the New York Times recently. We’re near Noe Valley, and the entrance to highways 280 & 101 are about 10 blocks away, giving you easy access to the East Bay, San Jose, and Half Moon Bay. Also, Cortland Street—one of the best streets in San Francisco as far as neighborhood, community, and wonderful shops—is just on the other side of Bernal Hill (which boasts one of the best views of the city and is a popular walking/jogging spot). And of course, this is part of San Francisco, with all of her obvious charms--Bernal Heights has been described as "one of the best small towns, hidden inside one of the best large cities, in America." Bastards! Anyway...I was considering staying in a hotel instead, but figured I'd toss a line out to see if anyone out there is interested in swapping apartments for that weekend...your NYC place for my beautiful New Orleans apartment. A little bit about my place: it's a one bedroom on the second floor of a stone building on Magazine St. built in the early 1840s. It's been recently renovated with all modern appliances, is equipped with a flatscreen TV and full digital cable package, wi-fi, a queen size bed, a comfy sofa, a large wrap-around balcony, and plenty of parking. The neighborhood is full of history and home to some marvelous restaurants, bars, cafes, galleries etc. The St. Charles streetcar runs just a few blocks away, and the buses on Magazine are clean and usually run on time. You can get to the French Quarter by foot in about 15 minutes. And yes, I can send pictures upon request. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a place to stay while visiting friends and imbibing for a few days, but would prefer Manhattan or Brooklyn. However, I'd be willing to consider other locales. I'm a freelance film tech and would be in the city part-time as I prefer to be upstate when I'm not working. The cottage is a very charming one bedroom (for two), one bath cottage. It's fully winterized, nestled in the trees with large front and back yards, deck with gas grill and parking on a very quiet and private dead-end road. Conveniently located 5 miles outside of Margaretville (supermarket, shopping, restaurants, antiques) Bellaeyre Ski Center and Hannah Country Club are just down the road. It's the perfect country getaway in one of the nicest parts of the Catskills. Other Local Attractions: I'm just five minutes from Robert's Auction House where you can experience a live country auction. There is access to local swimming in the East Branch of the Delaware River right outside the village of Margaretville and at Belleayre mountain. Saturday's from 9am-2pm check-out the Farmers Market (May-Oct) at the Round Barn located about a mile from the cottage. They have great produce, organic meat, wonderful desserts, artisanal cheese and local crafts as well as craft demonstrations —or go for breakfast and hang-out. It's got country charm at every turn. We have a very nice and spacious vacation apt w with modern kitchen and gourmet appliances. We are n Brooklyn Heights near lots of restaurant on Atlantic Avenue and a 5 - 10 minute walk from the Famous Smith Street Night life. Gorgeous, Safe, Historic neighborhood. Best Views of Manhattan - We live two blocks from the East River -- where we have a new great park - including a kid?s water park (Pier 6 Park -- right on the Hudson - with free weekend shuttles to Governors Island) Our subway stop is 1 stop from lower Manhattan. 15 minutes to midtown. (About 30 min. door to door) Living Space There is an open Kitchen living room area about 30' x 20' We love to cook, and the Kitchen is good for that. -- fully stocked with good knives and pans, blender, food processor, toaster, dishwasher, icemaker, -- pretty much all that stuff. We also have a 30' x 30' outdoor deck with large teak patio table that sits 8. Outdoor BBQ/Grill, We have been traveling quite a bit this summer and and as a result we have not done anything with the garden. The apt has 2 Bedrooms (plus extra loft bed) Bedroom 1: 11' x 13' with King, Bedroom 2: 8' x 9' with double loft bed Bed 3: There is also another loft bed inside apt in semi-private alcove that sleeps 1 or 2 who can cuddle (Note - bedrooms are on on the street side - so you do hear traffic. It is usually relatively quiet at night. but if you need a silent room, this is not it.) The apartment is in a very well maintained 4 story brick walk up. It?s an extra wide building (30 feet wide and 70 feet deep) and we have the whole floor. The inside of the apt is 30 x 40 (minus the building staircase) and our outdoor space is 30' x 30' the apt was mostly renovated about 5 years ago (except the bathroom with is from the 70's) and is the only place in the apt that is not well painted. There are good air conditioners in every room. We would like to swap our place for your beach place (or woodsy place on lake) About us: We are a two-dad family, with a very lovely and well behaved 4-year old daughter.
