<![CDATA[Bookmark Buddies, a program of the Education Foundation~Osceola County, provides an exciting opportunity for parents, college students, local businesses, civic organizations, and other concerned community members to make a difference in the life of a child. Bookmark Buddies provides reading mentors to third grade students who are reading below grade level. There are 17 Osceola County elementary schools participating in the Bookmark Buddies program. Mentors meet thirty minutes a week, one-on-one, throughout the school year. No prior tutoring experience is necessary, and all of the tutoring materials are provided, making for an easy and fun volunteer experience! <![CDATA[+ We are looking for computer users between the ages of 35 to 55 and 60+ that are willing to participate in a computer-based study. + Upon completion of the session you will receive $20 as compensation. + If you have good vision, hearing, are right-handed, use a computer for at least 5 hours a week, and do not have physical limitations that may inhibit your use of a mouse you may be eligible for participation. + Participation will be a single session that will take approximately an hour and a half. The study will require you to perform numerous point-and-click tasks with the mouse as well as filling out some questionnaires. + The session will be held in the Psychology building on the Orlando campus of the University of Central Florida. Free visitor parking will be available in front of the building. + If you choose to participate you may also bring an eligible spouse/friend with you to the study. Dharamsala is accessible by bus on a daily basis from New Delhi and other smaller cities of North India. The nearest train stations are Pathankot and Kangra Mandir. Delhi is the nearest international airport. Volunteer project: Valleys of the Himalayas - where the heaven meets the earth. This small paradise is home to the Dalai Lama and to a significant Tibetan settlement in India. Dharamsala is set in the backdrop of the snow-clad peaks of Dhauladhar Mountains. It is the capital of the Tibetan Government in exile and the residence of the Dalai Lama. In the first two weeks of the camp, the volunteers will get the opportunity to learn about the Tibetan culture and the different issues related to the exile of its people and the re-settlement in India. There will be cultural activities and exchange with the Tibetan Youth with the support of the Tibetan Welfare Office. The project will also include an awareness campaign for the protection of the environment and solid waste management in cooperation with the Forest Department of Himachal Pradesh. Furthermore, the volunteers will support a local school in need with simple renovation work and interaction with the children (Indian children). Finally, the last and third week of the camp will be an environmental trek in Sai Ropa, Kullu Valley, and the Great Himalayan National Park for 5 to 6 days, with professional guides. My name is Rebekah Travis, and I am a graduate student in Clinical Psychology at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL. I need a child volunteer (ages 6-16, but preferably at the younger end of that scale) to participate in my administration of the WISC-IV intelligence test. The testing will take place on Florida Tech's campus, and it is required that the parent accompany the child. The test will be administered by myself and a more experienced graduate student will be observing. The class is being supervised by Dr. Krishnamurthy (<a href="http://www.fit.edu/faculty/profiles/profile.html?value=53" rel="nofollow">http://www.fit.edu/faculty/profiles/profile.html?value=53</a>). The test will take approximate 3 hours to administer. I will not be allowed to report the results of the test to you as I am still a student learning the test, and not licensed to administer it, thus providing a score (which may not be valid) would be unethical. Testing will be scheduled at you and your child's convenience during mid to late- September. More specific details can be provided if you are interested. Your child would have the experience of taking an intelligence test, which offers a range of interesting activities, and you would be able to say that you contributed to the scientific training of a psychologist. I hope many volunteers will join this search for the little girl. She deserves justice and a homecoming if at all possible. Dozens of people met up early Saturday near Moss Park in Orange County and the search was launched in some nearby swampland and other areas. The group is looking for volunteers for another search being launched Sunday. <![CDATA[First day of search was today and instead of 1000 TES expected to turnout, there were only 100-175 at most. We can make a difference in tomorrow's turnout if we all will get to posting the need for volunteers all over the Florida areas. I am going to post on the Orlando Craigslist and all other groups and places where there may be FL residents reading. I am requesting help from others to get the need posted in as many places as we can before morning when they meetup again at 8am. If you can post in any FL areas on Craigslist (they only allow a person to post one area) and also send out the request to any FL myspace friends, FL groups, clubs, any online FL posting places where it might get read, that will help increase the amt of searchers tomorrow. You can copy the following and paste it whereever you can. It has been really hard for me to work on the first chapter (which speaks about religious movements) more than in the other ones because a subject as it is religion can have millions of points of view, which is one of the benefits i actualy see on it. I try to state on my book that God couldn't represent one tribe or one region. I see that the same God the muslim prays to is the same as the christian does when it is made on pro of the humanity and the world. I am in search of people who would like to colaborate to my work. Mentors are trained and match with a youth through Children's Home Society of FL based on personality, gender, and preference on age and location. All mentors must be 21 years or more and have a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and their own vehicle. <![CDATA[The Haven for Injured and Orphaned Wildlife is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual release of injured and orphaned native wildlife. We take in every type of native wildlife and this is our busiest time as the spring/summer time is when most baby animals are born and we are overwhelmed by orphans each year. Currently, we have raccoons, opossums, baby birds, bunnies, ducks, etc. Volunteers are asked to help feed, clean cages, administer medication, wash the never ending dishes and bedding and even assist on releases of healthy animals. We don't require any special training or experience- just a love of animals! Currently, we work out of the home of Mary Jane Isner, the founder of the organization and we are located in Altamonte Springs, not far from the mall. We ask that volunteers commit to one three hour shift per week for a minimum of three months. Shifts generally run from (approximately) 8am to 11am, 11am to 2pm, and 3pm to 6pm. I recently Just moved Here to Orlando, and I am looking for work, but unfortunately I cant make it anywere to apply or for an interview, I live with an Aunt and the Only have is for work and even when its not in use they will not take me anywere with the exsue of being tired or not enough Gas, I have a great resume were I could get a job anywere but not having a job to generate any money is stopping me from getting any were. Today I had a Job offer as a Server at Bento Cafe at 151 S Orange Ave. I had to be there between 3pm and 6 pm and I got my clothes ready and I was waiting on a friend to show up to give me a Bus Pass to get there and he never showed up. I am not looking for people to pitty me or even support me, all I am asking for is if there is anyone that could possibly help me for me to be able to move around and get a Job.
