I only read tablature and I would love to cut heads with you sometime and show you how a guitar is played. I am so confident that I could rip you to shreds. What a stupid thing to say about reading tablature. I only read tablature and I make a great full time living as a musician.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabs are for preschoolers. You know it and I know it. If you only read tabs then you must be REALLY limited as a guitarist/musician. If you are going to waste your time with tabs, pick it up by ear. There have been (are) many great musicians of the past and present that could not read....but tabs?? Btw I know a lot of BAD musicians/guitarists that "make a great living" playing in bar bands because they have beer drinking friends who know nothing about good music, or have band members that do. They are probably not coming out to see YOU. Its a game about knowing people that drink not about people seeking out good music.
Learn to read dude. You will be able to play with other instruments rather than yourself (no pun intended). ;-) | music distribution at artistpr.com |

Professional Mixing & Mastering!

Send your multitracks in .AIFF or .WAV format 16 or 24 bit @ 44.1k / 48k. / 88.2k/ 96k. Many engineers offer this service because they have decent speakers and some digital plug-ins. But the truth is, you cannot master on recording equipment or with recording speakers. It takes a highly specialized set-up and a tuned room to do true mastering.

I offer a professional, true mastering service to bands and musicians who cannot afford the big boys but need comparable results. My gear is paid off, my overhead is low, and I work with you entirely over the internet.

Here is how I work:

After you contact me, I set up an FTP folder for you to upload a file to. You upload one song and I master that song and send it back. If you like what I do (90% of clients do), then we take care of payment and you upload the remaining songs. I take care of all the details like fade ins, fade outs, track spacing, CD text and other details as per your notes.

My pricing is as follows:

8-12 songs including two master CDs mailed to you $425
5-7 songs including two master CDs mailed to you $350
3-4 song demo, you make your own master CD, I upload files $250

If you would like to hear a mastering before and after compilation download this file: www.imperialmastering.com/imperialcomp.mp3 You will hear a before and after of blues rock, hard rock and metal.

I also offer mixing to bands who are not happy with what they got from the local studio. I get one song mixed for you as a test at an introductory rate so you know what you are getting. My mastering skills enable me to cut into mixes and make them deep and high fidelity. I work with all styles except hip hop.

Get in touch if you are intrigued! I have been doing this for 13 years and I guarantee you will be amazed at what I can do!

Gee... can we say FLAKE? in one post you say you worked with all the agents (Al, Billy, Jaime ... ) EXCEPT with EBE(Mike)... then magically you know Mike so well and do fill-in gigs for him?

dude, I 'm tired. I gigged last night; worked today....have another gig tonight. Losers like you think Harmonic of Target is a child's instrument sold at a discount department store.

That's why you'd worked with every agent, cause you're a know it all and really know sh!t about nothing. nonone wants to work with you.

I bet the reason you're not in a band is because you feel you're better than everyone out there, but the truth is that you really suck at your craft and no one would even want to work with YOU anymore...WAH!!!!! WAH!!!! what do you read, Tab? please.... a 9 year old can understand tab.

I'm looking for other bandmates that are willing to make a committment to practice at least a couple times a week. Ideally, even starting out with a keyboard player, guitar would be great. Here is my potential setlist:
Prince - Purple Rain
Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline
Bon Jovi - It's My Life
Tom Petty - American Girl
Cheap Trick - Surrender/I want You to Want Me/The Flame
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence/Shake the Disease
Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
Elvis - Suspicious Minds
Billy Joel - Pressure
INXS - Don't Change
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
Ramones - I Wanna be Sedated
U2 - ????
Smiths - Girlfriend In a Coma
Kiss - Detroit Rock City
Tonic - If you Could Only See
Genesis - Follow You Follow Me
Radiohead - Creep
Rush - Limelight
Joe Jackson - Is she really going out with him?
The Vapors - Turning Japanese
Barenaked Ladies - The Old Apartment
Oasis - Champagne Supernova/Wonderwall
Bush - Glycerine
Like I said this is only a potential setlist. I'd like to have fun with this. I'm only interested in strictly doing covers, not originals. Also, not looking for ego-maniacs or primadonnas. Also, will need a place to practice. I used to have a pa system but sold it regretfully. So, if you have gear that would be a ++. I'm working on buying a new pa shortly. If your interested get back to me and we can exchange numbers. Would like to get going as soon as possible.

I offer a wide variety of 'cover' songs and musical styles [rock, soft rock, standards, blues and much more]. I take my work seriously, do this full time and always strive to give the best quality performance possible at every show. References are available upon request.

In these time of economic woe, I realize that entertainment can be a stiff expense. But, I also believe that good quality entertainment can enhance a person's experience at a venue, party or event, and possibly bring them back again [and again, and again, etc...] as opposed to going somewhere else. Good live music is a strong force, and can be a brief escape from your problems [it works for me!]. I also try to be reasonable with my fees [which does not affect the quality level of the music presented].

I am also a recording Songwriter/Composer with many songs copywritten and a couple of minor Licensing deals. I have original music available both for live performance and any production projects [TV/Radio commercials, Videos, etc] that you may have. I have a small home studio and could also possibly compose some music for your specific needs.

I am based in Vineland, NJ, but was a longtime DelCo resident and performer. I would like to keep within 60 miles radius of Vineland, but exceptions can be made on that travelling distance. I generally do an upbeat show, but can also perform a mellower show [restaurants, etc] if desired. Reliable, Professional and Experienced, my personal musical philosophy is that I am only as good as my last show, so I try to be consistantly 'on the mark' at every one. For more info please call Joe K at 856-507-0188, or respond via email to this post. I would be pleased to answer any questions, and/or send you a Demo Kit with a CD. Ok, I was not real pleased at the time, but watched them play and realized how world class that they really were. I mean, in spite of my anger, I could not ignore the quality of their performance that evening. It was a musical growth experience for me, as I realized that respecting others for what THEY do, even if I didn't personally like them or their music, was the mature thing to do. I learned 'respect' from them that night, in spite of my preconceptions, and irritation from being bumped from the show.

PS: I also saw a drunken Tommy Conwell make a musical ass of himself that night, which was another 'learning experience' for me. But to be fair to him, I have seen him do an excellent show somewhere else, too. My lesson learned - To always be musically CONSISTANT in quality!

I spend alot of money on lessons and have been playing for almost 6 years now. My friend has been playing since he was a little kid.

People who hear us say we have a great musical connection. We experiment alot and record some wicked cool things. We are not the kids who were sitting on the couch and just started playing. We are serious about our tonal quality and the song.

Unfortunately the drummer we are playing with is more of a pop style player, and that is not us. We are essentially looking for a drummer who has a good handle on polyrhythmic principles (this is what we are currently experimenting with). Listen to Herbie Hancock's Thrust album if you want an idea of what I mean.

Our style has a funky/jazzy element to it, but we are open to experiment with any style of music.

We are currently in college and have internships. We practice individually about 20 hours a week and meet together once or twice a week. We want to graduate from college before we get serious so for now we practice alot, try things that we are not used to doing (that is the only way to get better), and record tracks that we come up with for later reference. We plan on doing some gigs during this time just for experience, but if something awesome falls in our lap then we will thus persue.

We are basically looking for a drummer in a similar position. Someone who is young (20-23), real busy, and looking for like minded people to practice with. I am sick of playing with the musician who just picked up his craft and plays covers and can't change things up. If your a drummer who strives to get better and looking for like-minded people, then please email me.

“Take back your heart/ I don’t want it no more,” pleads Philly song-slinger Marc Silver on Past Is Prelude, his third album. Another tune finds him on similar footing: “I don’t wanna leave just to learn/ All I need was inside your heart.” Just as timeless as those sentiments is the plucky, bluegrass-tinged folk delivered so sharply by Silver and his regular band the Stonethrowers. There’s banjo and mandolin, upright bass and pedal steel, and lots of harmonies raining down, all serving to brighten Silver’s somewhat mournful songwriting. But like the well-worn Appalachian tunes he looks to for inspiration, his own work is uplifting in its clear-eyed honesty. But at least I know what I am, and that's the first step to self-realization...isn't it!! | Greetings everyone,

I trust this note finds all well with everyone as we all prepare for the coming holiday celebrations.

I received an email yesterday from a friend who is collecting small gifts to bring to a children's home in New York. The children that unfortunately have no other home to go to for the holidays will “shop” for these gifts to give to their families or other visitors during this most joyous season. The email suggested “re-gifting” (no label makers please, lest we upset Elaine) those unused gifts we've received that are sitting in a box in the attic, closet, or basement. This got me to thinking about the real magic of the holiday season we are approaching.

As I was reading the email I was reminded of the great lesson of Ralph McTell's song "The Streets of London" whereby Ralph reminds us that as difficult our plight may be there are others in more difficult circumstances. I quote the refrain:

"Now how can you tell me you're lonely, and say for you the Sun don't shine?
Let me take you by the hand and take you through the streets of London
and I'll show you something that will make you change your mind."

I forwarded the appeal to family and friends and received many favorable responses. The one that inspired this writing was from my oldest daughter who, being my daughter, was determined to “make it on her own” and has struggled considerably for many years as she developed her career. She proudly proclaimed; “This is my Christmas for giving...finally!!!”. I am so very proud of her, not only for the hard work to reach this point in her career but for her generous heart as well.

I know giving to others in times such as we are, and those that seem to be on their way, may very well be a daunting thought, perhaps even downright troubling, as we are ourselves unsure of our own immediate future. I know all too well the effects of the current "tightening of the belt" as I struggle to replace the third of my schedule for next year lost to "budget cuts and constraints". I hold great hope for the future none-the-less as I have navigated my way around such times in the past, though admittedly, times that didn't quite seem as severe as the current.

I am fairly certain there are facilities or organizations with-in your local communities with important needs, especially during this time of the year. Please support those you choose and thank you for your compassion and generosity.

God bless you all for your consideration!

Peace,
Note: We believe it's critically important that the OurStage rankings reflect the true wisdom of the community by being free of gaming. It is one of the most unique things about our site differentiating us from the scores of other sites that are unable to separate quality from the noise. So on OurStage the artists in each channel are presented at random (each equally), to prevent gaming, and to give every artist a fair shot to be compared to every other artist. We know it's different and we know it asks more of our community to do it this way but we believe the results are worth it.
*** Each month we award $5,000 to the highest ranked song, and $1,000 to the highest ranked video. Other monthly opportunities include things such as: other cash prizes, studio time, mentoring sessions with industry leaders, and chances to play live at events/shows/festivals. We have amazing collection of gig/playing opportunities available for winning artists (NoisePop, SXSW, 10KLakes, BumberShoot). We promote our winning artists in video, press releases, and follow-up interviews. This isn't a one-time deal.

If it's free, how does OurStage earn the revenue to offer this service, and award these prizes?
It's completely free to the artist, and to the fan. We do not, at any point, charge any of our members any fees. OurStage is currently funded through sponsorships and partnerships in the entertainment industry, and by private investment from individuals interested in the future of the music industry and independent music.

*** OurStage was named one of the top sites for artists by Billboard magazine. Article can be seen in Yahoo news.

On Sunday, November 23rd, MadKo Concerts will team up with MAD Dragon Records and Drexel Greek Life to host a free show and charity drive at the Rotunda to kick off Thanksgiving week. The Absolute Zeros, Andrew Lipke, and Creeping Weeds will be performing alongside very special surprise guests to help families in need. MadKo and MAD Dragon Records are components of the Music Industry program at Drexel University’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design.

The Absolute Zeros combine classic and modern rock with blues and funk to make a sound that is uniquely their own. They have played almost every room in Philly in support of their debut EP, including World Café Live, Tin Angel, Doc Watson’s, and Grape Street Pub. They have developed a strong fan base that defines them as one of Philadelphia’s brightest bands on the rise.

Andrew Lipke is set to release his next offering, Motherpearl & Dynamite on November 11, 2008, through Drexel University’s student-run label, MAD Dragon Records (Ryko/WEA). Motherpearl & Dynamite is the follow up to Lipke’s 2007 MAD Dragon Records debut, The Way Home... and marks a new chapter in Lipke’s artistic development. It showcases Lipke’s melodic compositions and passionately-honest lyrics with a powerhouse of emotions, from heart-on-his-sleeve ballads to full-throttle rockers.

Creeping Weeds , a Philly indie band made up of five multi-instrumentalists, has a sound comparable of that to Pavement, Modest Mouse, and The Pixies with psychedelic experimentation. They are currently playing regional dates to support their full-length debut We Are All Part of a Dream You’re Having.
