<![CDATA[Advanta Dennis Alter, Welsh & McKean Rds, Spring House, Pennsylvania, 19477 RIP-OFF-REPORT The old 'you missed the opt out period' so we raised your rate from 11% to 36+/-%. The only problem is, I never received an 'opt out' notice. How do you prove a negative. The only response I received after sending a writen request was a letter stating that my letter was considered a late 'opt out' request and they cancelled the card leaving the high interest rate in effect. I had to pay it off at great expense to my company. They have screwed with my account three times in the past and I eventually worked it out. Once before by paying off the balance on the card. I have had more problems with Advanta than all other companies/banks/credit cards combined. Rick terrell, Texas U.S.A. I am in the same boat with other long-term good customers of Advanta. I have excellent business and personal credit and had my rate jacked this month to 35%+ This is robbery and their so called customer services reps. in India are no help and neither are the account managers. According to them no lower rate is available. Fortunately I am able to pay off these crooks. How can this be legal? 35%+ is unthinkable! Angry Margate, Florida U.S.A. To my surprise, I am not the only one being raped by Advanta. I have been in business for 23 yrs, never - ever have I had to deal with such a horrible credit card company. I have never been lat on any payment and to boot, never made just minimum payments but at least two to three times the required amount. Intrest rate in the past 6 months jumped from 9.9% to today at 37.81 %. Unbelievable non sense. Speaking to their customer service is equivalent to banging your head on a brick wall ! No one can help, no one has any power. I even wrote to their darn President John Moore in Utah. Do you think that anyone would respond to any complaint letters ? They have me over a barrel, I am paying them as much as I can to reduce the balance but I cannot pay it in full and they know that. I propose we all get together and find a law firm to file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against them. In these economical times, their actions are wrong. I wish them to fold soon, no tears will be shed. Advanta is his very own perfected scam. Ok People listen up because this will save you thousands of dollars. Advanta works like this; When you start a company you file with the state. Advanta takes that info and if you have good credit they offer you huge lines and low rates. BUT DON'T BE FOOLED BY ADVANTA. They will send you checks offering rates like 3.99% good for 2 years. But the second you use it they hammer you by reversing the deal, keeping your balance transfer fee of $1,000 and jacking your rate to 35+%!! They also raise your minimum payment to 4% of what you owe. Trust me, these are huge payments and at 37% the balance never goes down. I was a loyal customer for 10+ years. I was never late and I was well under the limit. I was also never notified. So if you ask yourself what kind of a sick person created this corrupt loan sharking operation? Well his name is Dennis Alter. He's the founder and CEO and he lulls you into trusting because you think he's a great guy who 'gets' small business. He writes papers cheering on small business. He does interviews with professors from Wharton and politicians from Delaware (where there are no limits on interest rates). He collects art and donates paintings. He gives lots of money to crooked politicians in all the right places. He builds buildings at his alma matter. In other words, he is just like any other corrupt CEO. But what makes him really disturbing is that evidently he thinks he's a good person. Most corrupt CEO's know what they are. Dennis Alter doesn't. I have to pay Advanta off because I must have good credit. I have dreamed up every way possible to not pay these people after what they did to me. But they hold my credit hostage so I just have to pay this and chalk it up to one more company that earned my trust and took advantage of me. Dennis Alter is a very sick old man. Advanta- Don't do it. CEO Dennis Alter is a criminal Pig denver, Colorado U.S.A. I have been an Advanta account holder for more than 5 years now. Never been late, never been over limit. How am I rewarded for this loyalty? 27% APR, that's how. Don't bother wasting your time calling customer service for the reason or requesting them to lower it. This company is in Utah... they can do whatever the F they want to (so I'm told). As if this economy isn't bad enough for sales, these effing people bend me over too. I hope Advanta goes belly up straight to hell! Damn the government for wanting to bail assholes like these out with MY TAX DOLLARS! <![CDATA[I am a 48yr old black male who has found himself, through making a mistake 15yrs ago caught in a system that will not let go. I was arrested in 1993, on a charge of "terroristic threats" here in philadelphia, which stemmed from a domestic dispute. The charge was considered a misdemeanor1 (no felony). However, I was convicted for my part and sentenced to 3yrs. probation. I served the probation successfully and completed it in 1996 and have had no arrests or any kind of law enforcement contact since. I have only been able to obtain low-paying jobs in security in which I am now out of work because an incoming security company (Allied Barton) to over my site and would not retain me because of my record, eventhough the client wanted me retained. In over the 15yrs it's been since my conviction I have made numerous attempts to find suitable employment comparable to my experience and job skills and have been turned down time and again from meaningful positions that would allow me and my family to prosper beyond living paycheck to paycheck. I have a strong military background to include combat in the first Gulf-War served honorably. I have studied and received a certification in computer-repair and have supervisory experience in all the positions I've held in security, and no one will give me the opportunity to prove my worth in a company or firm with challenges and room for advancement,which provides benefits needed to offset personal and family needs, because of my record.It has been very frustrating and emotionally debilitating to say the least on myself as well as my family. I have recently done research (through sheer desperation at this point)into how it can be expunged. It can not. In the state of pennsylvania, any conviction be it a misdemeanor or felony can not be expunged, period. Eventhough a peson did not go to jail, but only served probation is no exception. However, a person can apply for a pardon and is the only way to have it removed from your record. A person can go through the process on their own, but it will take 2yrs at the least for the whole process. Or a pardon lawyer can be hired and it can be done fairly quick for a dollar amount of $3,000.00 of which I can not raise on my own being out of work. And the fact is, I am truly desirous of being rid of this burden as immediately possible. My only desire is to be the best person I can be (and God knows I've tried all these years) and to be in the best possible position to support my family and be a strong, productive member of society. Not all people who have a record of some kind are hardend, career criminals who have murdered, raped and robbed people their whole lives. The law in pennsylvania needs to be changed to allow individuals like myself who are doing our best to be better people in our lives and for our families; to be given a second chance in our lives, so that we can obtain meaningful and beneficial employment. The law needs to be changed as to allow people like myself to move on with their lives and not be stuck...and caught in the judicial system as if we were convicted just like the most hardend criminals. So, in closing I am humbling appealing to anyone who can identify with my plight and are willing to be of help and a blessing to me and my family, please...please help with a small donation to help me raise the $3,000.00 needed to hire an pardon attorney. Wounded birds that are not killed by the shotgun pellets fall to the ground and suffer or are collected and their necks snapped. Pennsylvania is the only state where pigeon shoots openly occur. Even in the one state where state law expressly allows the shoots -- Tennessee -- no known pigeon shoots take place. My bill (H.B. 73) would outlaw live pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania, and establish the offense as a third-degree felony. It would not apply to dog training or other shooting or hunting activities. Please join my fight to end live pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania by signing my petition". However, legislation is pending in the Pennsylvania House to ban this atrocity which has 51 sponsors. Unfortunately, House Majority Leader William DeWeese is refusing to bring the Bill up for a vote.
