Philadelphia City Paper is looking for ambitious, dedicated, creative, energetic writers who want to make an immediate impact at Philadelphia's premier alternative publication. We are currently interviewing candidates for Spring 2009 intern positions. This internship requires a familiarity with the Philadelphia area and an interest in contemporary arts and culture. Primary responsibilities include keeping up with weekly beats for our listings section and writing weekly entertainment-oriented columns. Interns typically put in anywhere from 10 to 20 hours per week (scheduling is flexible). Other duties include: — Pitching/writing short pieces for the weekly agenda/arts agenda sections — Pitching/writing features for the arts, music and food sections — Conducting research — Transcribing interviews — Fact checking — Developing and pitching your own story ideas The CP internship program is designed specifically for editorially oriented students. Within this plan I am looking for general guidance as to how I can better promote my multimedia production Prophecies of War, which one can go to the below links to learn more about it. Prophecies of War is a multimedia production combining live music similar to 1970s Miles Davis and Tool, video projections, three floor-to-ceiling projection screens, and audio clips of Dwight Eisenhower and George W. Bush. The CD is currently available both online and in retail. Additionally, it was nationally televised throughout America in July 2008. Additionally, it has been reviewed in Progression Magazine, Philadelphia Citypaper, Prog-rieste, and aired on college, community, and public radio in America, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, and Australia. In addition to the airplay and reviews, it will tour America starting in February 2009. It is booked in NYC and Washington DC. Also these bookings are in high schools and other markets include Providence, Chicago. And the Canadian tour will begin in the summer of 2009. Essentially, I am looking for someone to answer the following questions in their marketing plan: What publications should this production be advertised in? What size of advertisement should it be? (Adjust this question to reflect the medium (radio, cable, magazine, etc.) What day the week should these advertisements run and how long? How many weeks should they run before the first performance? How can promotional efforts for the tour be tied into retail promotions? What is the communication strategy or image Prophecies of War be presented as? What forms of media should be used (e.g. Internet, radio, cable television, magazines, etc.)? What about on site advertising? What non-traditional methods should be used to help promote this tour/production? How many publicists should I use? Should I use a local or national publicist? Should I use more than one publicist? I have access to cable television, how can cable programming be connected to promotional efforts? How can speaking events or college lectures be used as a promotional tool? Since there are opening bands for PoW, how can they be used efficiently to promote the show? PoW is performing at high schools during nights and weekends when students are not there, how can we make our presence known to students? In addition to these questions I have started to review radio promoters and American and Canadian publicists. These are the bulk of questions that I have devised.
