<![CDATA[Volunteer Coordinator <br> January 5, 2009 to July 3, 2009 <br> <br> The Volunteer Coordinator will assist the National Association of Mental Illness-Juneau (NAMI-Juneau) to develop/build a sustainable volunteer base, to improve the quality of the volunteer experience and to increase the number of volunteers. The volunteer coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, NAMI volunteers and the NAMI Board to meet this projects primary objective. Building an organizational culture of strong teamwork and cooperation and helping to assess volunteer capacity will be major priorities and will provide an opportunity to engage in applied research that will be helpful to mental health beneficiaries, providers and governmental entities in Juneau and in Alaska. <br> <br> <br> NAMI-Juneau is a local affiliate of one of the largest grass roots volunteer based organizations in the country. NAMI affiliates focus on education, support and advocacy related to mental illness issues and community concerns. NAMI-Juneau became incorporated in 1984 and was responsible for the establishment of JAMHI the community mental health facility in Juneau and Polaris House – a clubhouse model program focused on the needs of those with mental illness who are homeless and often indigent.
