Experience with MS office suites including Outlook, Word, and intermediate to high proficiency in Excel

Purpose of Position: Responsible for working with the Director of the College Planning center on outreach programs that encourage underrepresented student populations to attend postsecondary education.

Primary Duties: Schedule and conduct college admission preparedness events at high schools, community centers and other locations as needed. Provide one-on-one counseling to students and parents. Make presentation to groups of parents, students, and high school staff on college planning and financial aid topics. Participate in the planning, communicating and coordination of community relation efforts. Attend conferences and other events as requested by the Director of the College Planning Center.

Desired Qualifications: Bachelors degree with a minimum of two years experience as a financial aid and/or admissions counselor in higher education. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills. Should have experience and feel comfortable presenting to small and large audiences. Previous experience working with students, administrators, teachers, community leaders and advisory groups helpful. Applicant must be fluent in Spanish. Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups. Experience or training in marketing or public relations particularly with public awareness campaigns would be helpful.
