<![CDATA[I'm looking for a few women interested in contact games in full pads. All pads and helmets are provided and it would include pads from head to toe to keep everyone completely safe. (similar to hockey and football gear). We typically go to an open park with a playing field and play contact games with some hitting and tackling. Typically we play capture the flag, tag, smear-the-queer, or just play around in our gear. Tag with hills and pads on can be the most fun. If it has been raining it is sometimes a little muddy. It is usually only a few people so no need to be self-conscious. Everyone is just out to goof around, get some activity, and get to be rough with pads on. Shoot me an email if your interested. <![CDATA[When my family used to go camping my dad would make us pick up every piece of trash in the campground. I would complain that it wasn't our trash and my dad said "we leave it cleaner than when we got here." Well that was a life lesson that I have expanded to everything in life. My goal is to leave the world better than when I got here. My great friend in LA has started this website which is all about making small changes in the world to better everyone. I would really like to get this going in Sacramento. I am really looking for people who might be interested in doing small acts to help our world. For example, right now we are working on setting up a candy making class where the proceeds would go to Feed the Children. The best part about this website is, that even if you don't go to any of the events (which I would love getting help to set up). Merely by signing up for the website (and entering in the card number)you will help make a difference, because as people sign-up, pledges that companies have made. For example for 50 "hugs" or sign-ups one company will donate $50 to SPCA. These go from donations to school all the way up to a person who has pledged to donate a kidney! The cool thing is there is nothing to buy, and no spamming is allowed- (can you believe that there is a social networking site that is children friendly even?) Some of the ideas I have are (and I would love more ideas): having more cooking classes or meals where the proceeds will go to Feed the Children, collections for the Mustard Seed School, as well as working with Habitat for Humanity, and anything else that is suggested. I can't even tell you how excited and passionate I am about this. I have been looking for a way to do more, and would love the help and support of you to make this simple idea (that little acts can make hige differences) a reality. If you do you might enjoy our non-violent, co-ed floor hockey game on Monday nights in Sacramento. www.sacramentofloorhockey.com This is a fun, friendly, social game. We play from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. on Monday nights, indoors on a hardwood floor with lightweight hollow plastic sticks, pucks and goals. All equipment is provided, although you will be asked to pitch in as we have all pitched in for new sticks, and for any sticks that break while you are using them. You can bring a wood stick as long as it has a plastic blade. Rule #1 is "No pushing". There are a few reasons that rule #1 is "No Pushing". It keeps the game friendly, cuts down on injuries but does not completely eliminate them, and it's easy for everybody to understand and apply. No Pushing includes no shoving. This is a game of teamwork, speed and skill, not a game of strength. There is contact but the contact is supposed to be occasional and light. The way to take the puck away from somebody is with your stick, not by running them over. Wear clothes you can run in. You will be glad that you brought a clean, dry shirt to wear after the game. We have been playing since the first Monday in March of 2006 and we play almost every Monday night all year. There is a $5 suggested donation which goes to our host. I donate each week too. This is a friendly game but it is still possible to get hurt. Therefore, play at your own risk! By playing you agree to assume all risks, known and unknown, regardless of the cause, and to release me, our host and anybody associated with it from any responsibility for injury or related costs. Thank you! You don't have to be a great or experienced floor hockey player to join us. You do have to be interested in creating the friendly, cooperative atmosphere I described. My goal is for us to build a large enough and committed enough group that we play every Monday night all year long in the spirit of a friendly, social, safe, non-violent and competitive game.
