I am a commissioned artist who has been doing portraits for the past three years in a wide range of subjects from icons, historical figures, loved ones and family, pets and nudes. The medium I work with is exclusively charcoal both black and white. My work is large (22" x 30"). I have a strict attention to detail and no job is rushed or hurried. CSLB does license mural painters as C33 licensed contractors. You don't have to like CSLB, but the law states this classification is required as a work of home improvement. I'm not selling ANYTHING, but most people, such as the angry experienced muralist, are unaware that murals are in fact under the jurisdiction of CSLB's license law. Feel free to hire anyone to paint whatever you'd like, just know hiring a licensed contractor offers protection and recourse should a problem occur. No one has to believe me. Call CSLB at (800)321-CSLB or check their website. Do a search for 'murals' and read the board meeting of May 2006, or read the classification for the C33 classification.
