<![CDATA[Hello, I recently rescued this wonderful Rotty from the fairfield shelter where he was scheduled to be euthanized, due to being over looked because of his size. His name is Rocki, and is about 4 years old. He is neutered, UTD with his shots and chipped, about 90 lbs. He doesnt look to be mixed with any other breed and his temperment is very mellow and he loves to play with his Kong. He has had training and knows basic commands and learned a few more very quickly. He should be with a family who has no other dogs, where he can be the best comanion I know he can be. Children who have been raised around dogs would do fine with Rocki as he loves to be played with by the little ones. Even dressing him up, he doesnt mind! <![CDATA[King pigeons are bred for meat (squab) and sold at live food markets. Some escape or are set free but, because they are poor flyers (bred to have large bodies & small wings) that have never fledged (they're raised in crates), they can't survive free, like other pigeons. Most are killed by cars, dogs and hawks but a few are brought into animal shelters every week. Of course- they have a hard time getting adopted... when's the last time you thought about going to the pound to adopt a pigeon? Thing is, they make surprisingly great pets. They are smart, calm, easy going and easy to tame. They can be kept indoors with the family or outside in a predator & weather-proof aviary or coop. I like to place mated pairs and I'll include a pair of dummy eggs (pigeon birth control). Recommended donation to Mickaboo is $10 per bird. I met my first King pigeon as a volunteer at SF ACC and, since then, I've been working with ACC & Mickaboo & Pigeon Talk to help find them good, safe, forever homes as pets. <![CDATA[It is with heavy hearts that we are re-homing our dog, Henry. We have only had Henry for three weeks. Our son has developed a serious allergy and we must re-home Henry immediately. Henry has been neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, and given preventative flea and heartworm medication, all in the last three weeks. Our vet says he is a shih tzu/terrier cross and about 2 years old. He does shed, minimally. I would guess he is between 15-20 lbs. He is excellent with my two young sons and absolutely loves to play with them. He is very affectionate, and loves to be held and cuddled. He is house-trained and enjoys car rides. I'm not sure how he would be around cats or other, smaller dogs. I have taught him to sit, stay and shake. He is potty trained and can go all night in the house without an accident. He plays well with other dogs and loves cats. I lived in an apartment for 7 months, and my doggie was a happy guy. Yes, having to go on walks for him to go potty late at night or really early in the morning when it was cold wasn't fun, but i adopted him and i knew it was my responsibility. A backyard isn't what makes a dog happy, it is PLAYING WITH HIS OWNER IN THE BACKYARD that does. Dogs get very attached to their owners, and it's not fair to them to be taken from home to home because their owners decide to move into a smaller place. A dog is a COMMITMENT, so if you know you are going to make changes in your life in which a dog is not welcome, then PLEASE don't get one in the first place! Dogs have feelings. <![CDATA[We love our cat Andrew, but he has a mean side to him. One minute he is sweet and playful and fun to be around, the next he is hungry and bites at us or claws at us. After peting him for a little while, he goes from purring to attacking us, so we then leave him alone. We just got another female cat, hoping that he could have a buddy and mellow him out a little. She is a total mellow sweet heart. After two weeks, he still tries to attack her every chance he gets. He is crazy about going after her so we are forced to keep them separated. I dont know if it is out of jelousy or if he is just plain mean. We have tried everything we can think of to get our Andrew to change. We have had him for 4 years and he is still our baby. He is an inside cat and has been nutered for a few years now. Any ideas for what we can do would be greatly appreciated. We plan on having children soon and know that we cant have Andrew around kids, not if he doesn't change. We feel that we can't give him up for adoption as he might hurt other people. <![CDATA[Hi. I saved this baby from an animal shelter. They were going to put him down because he had been there for a long time. He was everyone's favorite at the shelter and is a great pup. He is about 5-6 months old and has had all shots including his rabie shot. I had him vet checked and dewormed, deflead, and ran test to see if he had been neutered. The shelter he came from does not have a vet on site and they do not fix the animals. He did not seem to have testicals so we ran blood work to check his testosterone levels and they came back well under the range which means he has some where along the way been neutered. I absolutely love this pup, but I think he get nervouse with all the commotion in my house. I have a lot of children so It is very loud. He does fine with them and my other dog, but he will hide when it is to loud for him. He follows me around every where I go. He is pretty much potty trained. <![CDATA[I have two kittens that I am fostering for my local shelter that need new homes. They were given to me by my vet who said a lady brought them in and left them there because they were strays. They were extremely skinny, but have now put on plenty of weight and are ready for new homes. Let me introduce them to you: Pumpkin She is just a doll! She is timid at first and will run away from you if you move too fast towards her, but once you start petting her, she just melts! She does not like to be held but will rub against your leg and hands until you reach down and pet her. She is very beautiful (as you can see in the pictures). She is not big on playing with toys (although she will once in a while) but loves to play with her sister. Claire: Claire is a very shy, very timid, little girl. She is going to take someone with a lot of patience. She LOVES playing with toys (she loves the laser light) and will occasionally let me pet her, but she also does not like to be held but will not squirm to get away like Pumpkin. She too is very unique in her beauty and the pictures do not do her justice. Both these kittens are about 16 weeks old and will be spayed this Friday and will be ready to go on Saturday December 13th. They will have their first set of shots and be dewormed. They have both been treated with Advantage for fleas when I got them. I would prefer that they go to a home together (Claire does much better with her sister there than without her) but I am not requiring it. She is diagnosed with PKD ( Polycyctic Kidney Disease ) and is rare in Rat Terriers. She may need to be on low-protien diet for the rest of her life and may need to be on a herbal supplement.
