<![CDATA[Craigslist for platonic? Hmmm To the losers and lurkers who abuse Clist and are exactly the fools concerned in my message...yep you keep flagin' it, and I'll keep postin' it. Please flag again, cuz the copy is in one email. It makes it easier to use it this way, so I don't have to use my other emails...and people STILL see the message, so please again, thanks.) Okay, let me explain first here that I am merely writing my opinion, and that I enjoy meeting people for friendships, dining and drinks. And I'd like to do more of it. But, nearly a year I have monitored Craigslist 2 or even 3 times a week. My experience has been better with Yahoo Groups, Google, and other venues, and I've built up about 3 social groups, and made some wonderful friends. This took a year. A year people. So this is why I'm writing this. As you can see, SF seems to be the area that has the most ads, and many of them are genuine and have people in the platonic areas actually looking for friends. Sacramento?...Bit different. Sorry. It is obvious, not just by experience, but by review, that the majority of the ads are posted by folks who don't seem to have a life, or are seeking a date, not a friend. Or they seek drugs such as the occasional (420) you will see...it means pot folks. So for a year, monitoring Craigslist, I have come to a conclusion. Craiglist is yet another venue to choose from, but a really really really limited one if you're too specific. There are other venues, or local daily and weekly newspapers - check out the events for the day or week. Yahoo Groups has anything you are looking for. Also try some specific wording using Google. There are all kinds of ways to meet new people, and build real friendships, and yes, if you seek a relationship, you can do that too. Criagslist does have M 4 W, and W 4 M, and it even has w 4 w and m 4 m, and a casual encounters or erotic services corner. Missed connections and rants and raves. Craigslist has it all. It also has groups, events, artists, forums, dates, news, all kinds of things. Too be honest, the only thing I've heard Craigslist in being useful is a garage sale, and finding rentals. That's it. Everything else? Well....just get off your ass and get a newspaper man. In short, I hope others have a lot of success in Craigslist, but before you make use of it (with hopes that if you simply try for a certain amount of time) you may want to go into each one of the ads and read them, and find out what they are asking for. It will give you a pretty good idea of the mindset that is posting. Great venue if you want to keep it up and make a positive effort to make it happen. But, if you don't like games, and spammers, and flakes, and lies, and druggies, and all the crap that goes with it, and you don't have a lot of time to waste on that kinda foolishness, well....you got my opinion. I hope you consider the venue. I figured, I put a year into looking at this, and that it was unfair, that no one informed me. So, now you have a leg up....good for you. Make the best of whatever you do and best wishes. (If you want to ham', you better be ready for some slam') ]]>
