<![CDATA[DESCRIPTION: <br> <br> The Behavioral Coach position is responsible for the skills training of both the child and parent participants in the Group Behavior Training Program. The focus of the skills training for the children with special needs will be to teach appropriate socialization skills within a group of peers with similar training needs. These children will be 5-13 years of age and diagnosed with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder or other developmental disability. Additionally, the Behavior Coach will implement behavior intervention plans focused on decreasing disruptive and maladaptive child behaviors that interfere with successful social experiences. Following Phase I of the Group Behavior Training Program, the parents, who have received 4 weeks of training with a Parent Trainer in the classroom, will integrate into the training group for the next level of training. The Behavior Coach will work with the parent(s) to apply what they have learned about approaches for teaching new skills and managing difficult child behaviors in the group with their child. This position involves working with a training team of staff under the supervision of a Group Facilitator to coach skill acquisition for both the child and parent participants in this training group. The Behavior Coach will also be available for individual consultation with parents who need assistance with implementing teaching strategies and behavior management approaches at home in between the weekly group meetings. <br> <br> REQUIREMENTS: <br> <br> The Behavior Coach position requires at least a Bachelor of Arts degree (Master’s degree preferred) and 2 years of experience working with children with special needs, preferably children diagnosed with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder, in a clinical or educational setting. This position requires knowledge of learning theory and behavioral approaches for teaching new skills and managing maladaptive child behavior. Additionally, this position requires demonstrated experience modeling and assisting parents with implement skills training or behavioral intervention plans. <br> <br> SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES to include, but not limited to: <br> <br> 1. The length of a TBS case is determined by the client's progress on those behaviors that are putting the client's placement at risk. The TBS program serves at-risk youth up to 21 years of age and their families by providing intensive case management and behavioral coaching. Referrals to the TBS program are received from the County TBS program. The TBS program serves clients throughout the entire County of San Diego. <![CDATA[OVERVIEW: <br> The Employment Specialist is a member of a team that provides comprehensive evaluation, training, job placement, counseling, and follow-up services primarily to individuals with significant disabilities who are long-term unemployed. This position requires understanding of a wide range of disabilities and how they impact a person’s ability to obtain and retain employment. <br> <br> The Employment Specialist focuses on job readiness activities, job search and application, job placement, and job development for participants seeking employment. This staff member will direct job search activities in the Job Search Lab during open lab hours. Additionally, the Employment Specialist will be responsible for teaching Job Readiness classes that will assist participants in resume development, job search techniques, and interview practice, and other skills related to job search, job retention, and career advancement. <br> <br> Job Development and Placement is a key duty for this position. This person must show initiative in helping participants get hired to work in the field of their choice. Developing relationships with employers is crucial. Cold calling by contacting and meeting employers to encourage them to hire individuals with disabilities and developing cooperative relationships that result in interviews and subsequent hires is part of this job. The job requires taking initiative and using creativity to expand employer relationships in a tight job market. Having previous job development experience and existing relationships with employers is strongly encouraged. <br> <br> Excellent computer skills, good writing style and impeccable grammar are also required as the job requires some letter writing, case notes, resume writing. Tracking client activities is also an essential function of the job. Some work in field may be required. Collect business cards of all individuals you talk with and write notes about employment opportunities to be shared with the rest of the team. <br> • Screen clients to be sure they apply for jobs for which they meet the qualifications <br> • Maintain records of employer contacts for future reference <br> • Work to establish relationships with specific contacts at companies so you can make direct referrals of jobseekers <br> • Work as part of a team for job placement of participants and offer input as to suitable job leads <br> • Document job search activities of participants in case notes <br> • Document employment of clients using the Certification of Employment and Follow-up forms.
