These "Dreamin' Fifties" lithographs by Robert Watt were produced in 1994 from an acrylic painting.
They are based on a former 1950's burger drive-in, called the P.D.Q., that was located in Petaluma, CA. The 19 cent burger sign, up since 1952, was removed and sold at auction to a local rancher. The P.D.Q. was considered to be a Petaluma "Landmark" by generations of local residents. For this reason, Robert Watt decided to bring it all back in his "Dreamin' Fifties" painting.
Each print is signed and numbered by the Artist.

Artist: Robert Watt
Publisher: Color Q Inc., Dayton, Ohio
600-Limited Edition
Lustre Dull 100# Cover Stock
100% Acid-Free
25" x 30 5/8"

CALL MARY at 707-762-8396 between 9am & 8pm

1 of 6 Bronze Statuettes in existence! Piece of history $7500.

The original “Goddess of Democracy” was a 10-meter-tall (33 ft) statue created during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. The statue was constructed out of foam and papier-mâché. It stood for only five days before being destroyed by soldiers of the People's Liberation Army in the assault on Tiananmen that would end the Chinese Democracy Movement. The toppling of the Goddess of Democracy was seen by millions across the world on television. Subsequently, the “Goddess of Democracy” has become an icon of liberty and a symbol of the free speech and democracy movements. Thomas Marsh Noted American artist Thomas Marsh became synonymous with the “Goddess of Democracy” when he created several replicas of the statue in tribute to the Chinese Democracy Movement. Several of Marsh’s replica’s have been erected worldwide to commemorate the events of 1989 in Tiananmen Square:
● San Francisco: A bronze replica of the Goddess by Marsh was erected in 1989 in Chinatown’s Portsmouth Square.
● A replica of March’s San Francisco statue was erected in 1999 in Arlington, VA to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the protests.
● A 3-meter bronze replica by Marsh stands in the “Victims of Communism Memorial”, in Washington, D.C.

The National Endowment for Democracy had Marsh create 80 small gypsum cement castings of his statue, and for the last 20 years has used these as their annual “Democracy Award”. These are in the collections of Members of Congress (Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. George Voinivich… and others), Chinese dissidents (Wei Jinsheng, Wang Dan… and others), democracy activists (Elena Bonner… and others), and heads or former heads of state (Violetta Chamorro, Vaclav Havel).

Marsh’s 6 Bronze Goddess Statuettes

“We did a limited edition of 6 (Goddess) bronzes. I say “we” because the foundry man who worked closely with me, David Coleman , cast the bronzes at his foundry in Emeryville, CA. The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation has the last bronze. The bronzes were meant as extra special gifts to honorees, given by the Chinese Democracy Education Foundation. These sculptures have local, national, and international significance. Each piece is still a “hot item” from the point of view of the Chinese government.” Thomas Marsh

The Oakland Museum, the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, the Sun Gallery in Hayward, and others have mounted exhibitions on the “Goddess of Democracy” works. The available piece is number 2 of the 6 that Marsh created.

Contact:
Matt Davis
Danville, CA
650-642-0854
MattDavis3299@yahoo.com
