I work in the financial district at Starbucks Coffee (free pound of coffee a week!) and I also do valet parking for special gala events, so my time at home is somewhat erratic. I can work all day and long hours, or just a couple hours a day. Work is NOT my life though. I enjoy acting when I can in theater and film and also bike riding. We both work in central San Rafael and would love to live close enough to walk (or a short bike ride) to town. One of us teaches preschool while the other is an interfaith minister doing important work with the downtown homeless community. We're healthy, non-tobacco smoking, compassionate, relatively quiet, open-hearted and easy going folks. We enjoy cooking, gardening, music (we have a nice collection of stringed instruments), spending time with our friends, and just relaxing around the house. <![CDATA[Another response to that person who posted comment that he/she saw many of the same rentals listed for months and that landlords should consider lowering rents-- I AM a landlord, and I also live on the property, part of which I rent out. The rents I charge do not cover the cost of mortgage, taxes and insurance. I bought in 2003. Unlike many landlords who have owned their property for many years and have lower mortgages (or whose property is paid off), I do N OT make a profit every month, but run in the negative each month. How can I afford to do so? Only because I tapped my home equity line of credit and moved some of the cash to another account, before the line of credit was frozen by the bank (because property values dropped a lot over the last year and a half). So currently I pay interest to the bank to use money that represents the equity I used to have in my home. So, it is a loss for me every month, and when I was LAID OFF, I had no choice but to find a housemate or chance going into foreclosure. LUCKILY I now have a new job. SO LANDLORDS are not all greedy. And tenants are not all messy slobs with no respect for property. No one should generalize. This country is in a big economic mess, and it is wreaking havoc with so many of our lives! I HAVE lowered my rents, which just makes ME run more in the red each month. Hopefully some day I might be able to sell my house for a little profit (or even break even). <![CDATA[ We are a couple in our late 20's that work in the San Mateo area and would like to find one or two roommates to rent a house or apartment with. We would like to be located between S. SF (including Pacifica) and San Carlos. In an effort to save $$, we would like to keep our portion of the rent no higher that $1400 (not including utilities). Ideally, we would like to move late April/early May but are flexible - just have to provide 30 day notice where we are. One potential challenge is that we have two dogs. One 35 lb. Boxer and a 10 lb. Terrier. Both are well trained and do not cause noise disturbances. Emily is a surgical veterinary nurse so they are well behaved. Anyone that has pets know how many options are cut out, especially when you have a dog over 30 lbs. Our pets are okay with other dogs and cats but not sure if we could get away with more than two more pets.
