Now that I'm here, secured in a job, and more familiar with the area, I'm reallllly wanting to find a house to move into. I live next to El Cerrito Plaza. I come with a cute old miniature schnauzer. She's 13 years old, weighs 17 lbs, and spends a lot of time sleeping nowadays. Therefore, you MUST love dogs! I am a general pet lover and can live with about any kind of pet you may already have. Since my dog is old, she keeps to herself when around a new dog. She loves playing with cats. I am totally ok with sharing responsibilities of letting dogs out, etc, and hope to find people willing to share that as well. She will bark at new people but settles down pretty quick (she sees herself as a guard dog). she's never bitten anyone and my downstairs neighbors love her. And yes the walls and floor the the apt are pretty thin, so I've never had a complaint about her (my roommate has actually mentioned that she's like a cat). She's current with shots and I'm strict about using frontline, therefore never had a problem with fleas. She is housebroken and learns instantly when taken to a new place. My absolute maximum budget for rent is $700. Of course, the cheaper the better! <![CDATA[Hello, I have perused and answered a lot of posts from people looking to fill an empty room and have come to the conclusion that putting myself out there (here) may yield better results. Here it goes... a few basics about myself: I'm 30, female, an art teacher by trade with a Masters degree in Art Education. I taught at Galileo High School the last two years but budget cuts have me subbing this year (still in SF), working at a friends flower shop on Potrero Hill, and free lance work. I'm excited about this opportunity to pursue other passions! I have lived in SF for the past two years, last in the Presidio and while it is beautiful out there the days of fog when the rest of the city is bouncing sunshine around has me yearning to move to a sunnier part of the city myself. Before San Francisco I lived in Portland, Oregon for 7 years and New Zealand before that. I love living in SF and my Midwest roots have me especially grateful to be so close to the ocean. I am kind, fairly humble, respectful of others and pretty normal. I have lived with people nearly ten years older and younger than myself and it's been just fine. I have house plants and cook a fair amount, often share and really good at cleaning up as I go. I'm pretty domestic but part of what I love about this city is the abundance of fun things to do and find myself seizing most of the free outdoor concerts, neighborhood festivals, farmers markets and the occasional Giants game. In short, I'm out exploring and enjoying the city a lot but when I'm home I really want it to feel comfortable for everyone and use the time to relax. I could ramble on about myself but I'd rather answer questions if you feel that we may be compatible flatmates. Here are a few details that other people have posted as deal breakers that may help you decide. I am definitely NOT interested in an intimate arrangement in exchange for a rent subsidy. I was a vegetarian as a youngster but I am not anymore and would like to feel comfortable eating meat/dairy at home. I rarely cook meat at home but don't want the option banned. Of course, if you are veg I'm fine with that as long as you are o.k. with me not being one as well. I do not smoke and loathe the lingering smell of cigarette smoke and would rather not be around it for both health reasons and again the smell. I am fine with someone smoking pot. I do not have pets but I love little critters, lived with them in the past and it's been great. I keep pretty normal hours and while I do go out for a music/art show, or dinner and a drink I'm always considerate about being quiet and taking my shoes off at the door.
