The Alberta Arts District has lots of restaurants, bars and small galleries plus "Last Thursday on Alberta" that runs May through October. During Last Thursday, Alberta Street is closed off from 5pm - 10pm and all the restaurants/galleries are open. The street is filled with local artists, food carts, bands, etc., who set up to sell their goods.
