<![CDATA[Today, many women have earned college degrees. The female workforce is prepared for professional careers. Recently, President Obama signed a bill called the Fair Pay Restoration Act, a bill to overturn the Supreme Court's recent 5-4 decision in Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The bill will restore the clear intent of Congress that workers must have a reasonable time to file a pay discrimination claim after they become victims of discriminatory compensation. The President was also a co-sponsor of Senator Tom Harkin's (D-IA) Fair Pay Act, and President Obama will continue to promote paycheck equity and close the wage gap between men and women. Currently, more women are prepared for a professional level career. Yet, women are being denied equal pay in the workplace. Women are being offered unequal compensation to this day. Staffing firms and Temp. Agencies are contributors towards wage discrimination towards women in the workplace. Which is the main source of economic failure in this country? For example, when a woman registers with a staffing firm one of the main questions they ask women is how much do you desire to be paid??? When you as a woman have the knowledge of what the correct compensation should be the staffing firm will not work with you or the recruiter will state they will market you resume, but the recruiter doesn’t. In reality the staffing firm places a message in their database stating that you’re asking for too much, so they will not work with you and tell you continually there is a not a job available. Then they proceed to throw you resume in the trash. Another example is that women are mostly hired at major employers to complete meaningless tasks such as administration and secretarial duties when women are highly prepared for upper level management and CEO positions. This is a violation of (EEO) because if you’re a women in the workplace working as an temporary administrative assistant through a staffing firm with a college education completing much of the job functions for a man who is the upper level manager or CEO and are working at the same pace of upper management and have the same knowledge about the company operations, but being paid far less and given a position in the workplace your under qualified for because you have a college degree and just as much experience as the male upper manager or CEO. The recruiters at these temp agencies are widely marketing the female workforce. This employment trend is a violation of the equal opportunity act. Stop allowing yourself as a woman to be paid far less than a man in the workplace. This employment trend has to be eliminated so women can make a sustainable living. Employers should not be able to utilize staffing and temp agencies a majority of the time to find employees, because it is causing the employment trend to be off balanced. The staffing firms have fixed contract wage rates incorporated into their contracts with the major employers. These very fixed wage rates do not pay more than $10.00 to $15.00 per hour for all job occupations. This means the staffing firms are utilizing contacts with most of the major employers. With a degree employers are only offering women $2.00 to $3.00 per hour more with a degree in their profession. The temp agency contracts do not have the female workforce best interests in mind. Instead the temp agency contracts are arranged to keep employer’s payroll costs down, which prevents a majority of the female workforce enormously under compensated for job responsibilities. This is a form of wage discrimination staffing firms are getting away with continually. This is wrong and congress needs your written complaints about this employment malpractice. Are you tired of being called a gold digger behind closed doors by the upper level male dominated management, because you have asked for equal pay in the workplace while your doing most of the job duties such as screening phone calls, data entry, file cabinet maintenance and meaningless office tasks. While the male upper management basically depends on you to do these administrative entry level tasks for them while they do nothing at all, but are being paid six figures a year and your being paid less than $35,000 per year? Have you witnessed a male manager who makes six figures a year completely stumble around at completing the job tasks such as screening phone calls, date entry, file cabinet maintenance and meaningless office tasks? Then proceed in expecting a woman to complete the very tasks they fail at, but the male manager makes six figures a year while your expect to complete the tasks they fail at for less than $35,000 per year while holding a degree from an accredited university. Excuse me, but the women who earned a degree did not pursue a degree to be a secretary or an administrative assistant for the rest of their life making $10.00 per hour. Have you applied directly to a profiting company only to get a return call from a temp agency recruiter that overlooked your experience and college credentials then the recruiter explains the company you applied directly to is their client acting like you cannot apply to the company without the temp agency’s permission and that their client (the employer you applied to first) is looking for an administrative assistant on a temporary basis? This is another example of violation of the equal opportunity act. Have you been screamed at on the phone by another female recruiter because you have asked for a sustainable wage? This is another negative employment trend, because some women in the workplace are jealous or reluctant to ask for sustainable wages for other women in the workforce. Are you tired of being denied a white collar job you’re well qualified for and you asked for a fair compensation on an employment application? Then denied the position or offered a position where the company changes the job title to entry level and requires you do complete upper level job functions, but paid far less through a staffing firm on a temporary basis, because of the contracts that cheat you out of fair compensation. These employment malpractices need to be investigated by congress and the Obama job summit committee!! Are you currently being paid entry level compensation when you’re doing a job of an experienced professional level occupation? The answer is more than likely "YES"!!!! A majority of men in the workplace who do not have a higher education are being paid far more than a woman in the workplace. In addition, men are being paid $85,000 per year without a college education. Men with college education are being paid $120,000 to millions of dollars per year in their chosen professions and doing less work. During the job interview process women are asked more questions and are required to take repeated computer related tests such as typing tests, spelling tests, writing tests, personality tests and organizing tests and men are not required to do the same. In a large number of instances men are hired with less grilling interview questions during the interview process compared to women. Furthermore, women are asked unnecessary questions during a job interview and are expected to meet more superior job expectations than a man in the workplace. In addition, women are interviewed in longer periods of time than men in the interview process. Men are usually hired more quickly with a simple hand shake and receive more compensation for their job. Women are overly screened for employment opportunities. Reminder: We live in a single mother society we have living expenses and financial goals as men do in the world. The world is not offering single mothers large advertised discounts purchases and investments. Currently, President Obama and job summit committee are asking women to give details about your workplace and job seeking experiences. The president is conducting an experiment and wants to hear from the female workforce. Women need to stand up and say something about wage discrimination. The more complaints about the wage discrimination issue will execute an investigation about wage discrimination the staffing firms AKA: (Temp Agencies) and major employers are getting away with across the nation. NUMMI's plan was to revive the auto industry here in the U.S and the bay area. NUMMI workers have had many, many good solid working years in an auto manufacturing plant. NUMMI workers have worked under UAW union so they have been receiving better than average pay for the work they do. Consider the workers who have worked more than 10 years, started at the very bottom of the pay scale and you will realize that with over time and annual pay raises the workers were not deprived of anything. Workers are still deprived of nothing with vocational school/ continued education assistance if they choose the option. Severance package + continued education assistance + 99 weeks unemployment package is not a bad deal. You want to Boycott Toyota/NUMMI. Toyota/NUMMI are not the result of the depressed economy nor are they a contributing factor since American auto makers want to devalue Toyota and Honda in an attempt to boost U.S auto sales. What type of car will you purchase in the near future? A Ford, a Chrysler, a Hyundai? If you want to boycott anything, boycott GM since they have decided to totally cut vehicle production at the NUMMI plant long before Toyota decided to close operations. This woman told the woman in front of me to control her kids soon after yelling at them to put the toys in the store down. I was not amused. She then complained that everyone makes a mess and she is not going to put up with it. I was thinking that this woman clearly hates kids. Then next, she yelled at my kid and told me my kids were out of control-as they were standing at my side and one of them had a ball in his hand. She yelled at him to put it back. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME ABOUT A WOMAN WHO HATES KIDS AND WILL YELL AT THEM, TAKE YOUR KIDS TO THE DOLLAR TREE FOR A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND JUST LET THEM TOUCH THE BALLS IN FRONT, OR THE FLOATING NOODLES. Just look in this womans eyes and ask yourself if what i am saying could be true!!!!!!! I reported her to the manager yesterday and today she is still working there!!!! This dollar tree store is one that, I feel, is no place to take your family. People need to talk to the parents if they have a problem with someones kids, or ask the kids to stop respectfully- you cannot yell at someones kids and then say they are out of control. My kids are well behaved. If you have a similar experience with this woman please tell me about it because i like the store for my kids and will not go there with someone like that behind the counter. And with the incident i had and the one with the woman in front of me, and for the manager to allow her to continue working, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I feel sorry for parents and children who have to take her abuse. AAAAAALSO SO SOOO SO SORRY to the women behind me that walked up after the fact and heard me yelling at this woman.]]>

<![CDATA[I was driving on Grizzly peak this morning at 6:30 am when a car gets on my bumper. I pull over and wave him past because i was driving with my 13month old son in the back seat. The car wouldn't pass so i walked down to his car and told him that i was pulled over so that he could pass. He said he did not want to cross the yellow lines so i told him i would pull into the oncoming lane so he could drive forward. I got in my car and pulled into the oncoming lane and he pulled up on my drivers side and said that he was going to bash my head in etc etc. I told him to just please go but he got out and attacked me. as i pulled away he punched out my side car window and glass sprayed all over the backseat on my kid. He was wearing a Orange shirt and had to be commuting to the WEBCOR construction site at the Cal Berkeley coliseum. You are not safe on grizzly peak with the construction workers commuting into Berkeley from Pittsburg or wherever. If anyone knows anything, has heard anything i would love to know more. That little back window he smashed is going to cost me over 500 dollars and i just want that guy out of my town and off the street. I'll pay another 500 just to get him locked up.]]>

Better Business Bureau. 2/27/2010 Saturday the 30th Jan: 6:30 pm - 9:45 pm. When I collected my children at 9.30pm, my youngest chi.d aged 4 was extremely distraught and would not utter a word. (A boy and girl were running the kids night out); the girl approached me with my son in her arms: She said "he's tired"; he was pushing away from the girl, whom had a grip of him. He shook his head - no! I hugged him while on my knee and put on his shoes; I could see he was extremely upset. He said in a very quiet voice "I do not want to come back". I asked why, he would not answer. On the way to our car, my older son aged 7, said "the guy put my 4 year old on time out, he did not want any pizza". My older son then said "the man threw my 4 year old on to the sofa, put a big blanket over his head and put his knee on top of the blanket to pin him down, while the other kids ate pizza". I calmly walked back into twisters and asked the guy to explain what happened - he said "YES I put him on the sofa, put the blanket over his head and had to hold him down; because he would not eat the pizza". I replied "that's completely unacceptable behavour'" and walked out. It took effort just to walk away, but I just wanted to get my children home, after the horrific events. I am shocked and disgusted at the physical and mental abuse, my child received from your staff at twisters. Child abuse my received while attending Twisters - kids night out. We have had numerous complaints from the family throughout our 5 years of doing business together such as class times, teachers, facility, teaching methods, etc. Despite our best efforts to improve these areas, we have had no success. Despite the numerous complaints that I have tried to resolve without success, they continue to do business with Twisters, which leaves me to believe that some incidents are blown a little out of proportion. <![CDATA[We have a garden community located at Octavia and Lily, across from Mercury Cafe. It's a garden created by local residents with and without homes. Several groups and agencies like the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association, local neighbors, homeless and fomerly homeless residents and advocates and SF Project Homeless Connect have been working together to creat safe, green spaces where we can grow community. We have almost no budget. The work accomplished to date has been possible mainly due to the efforts of local volunteers, outreach workers, SF 1st POWER Team members and local businesses and a generous grant from the Levis Strauss Foundation. The City has donated some resources (water line and space), but to make this happen, we need your help. We have about 20 residents with homes and 20 without, who comprise the core membership for these gardens, which is the first of many more to come throughout our city. Because many are poor and in need of good meals every day, we have had some challenges to support their desire to help us with these garden plots. Many formerly homeless now live in SRO Hotels, but still, either are not safe there or they have no cooking facilities and still rely on other places with set times for feeding, so they often have to choose between that crucial meal of the day or coming out to the gardens to be safe and help us. So, we are turning to the community. This garden is dedicated to a man named Eric Bayer who came here about four years ago for a two week visit. He ended up staying and started feeding our residents on the streets, in the SRO hotels and every where he found them. He became a role model and worked with SF DPH, as a homeless outreach case manager on the SF HOT Team. This enabled him to create things like Food For Thought, Agony of Da Feet (hot oil foot clinic), SF First's 1st Cup Friday Socials (serving fresh organic coffee, berry smoothies, oatmeal and stir fry veggies) to hundreds of impoverished and hungry residents every week. Eric's 12 week SF First POWER (peer outreach workers exemplifying reocvery) program, in which clients choose their own community outreach plans on a meager stipend which made them eligible for housing. 75% of his graduates got permanent or stable housing and permanent or other volunteer or stipend opportunities, in the community because Eric let them do what they chose to do. About six grads were hired to do outreach, by the SF Main Library, at their request after watching them in action for 12 weeks. Eric passed away suddenly but his dreams, hopes for our people and his missions to feed and grow community are alive and weel in this garden commununity project and others being started up. Join us and come by on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays from 1pm to 4pm, which are regular Garden Open Days. On Tuesdays, we usually have an outreach worker who can show you around and accept your donations which may be tax deductible. We need food we can munch on to keep up everyone's energy and nutrition levels until we can start harvesting some of our own food. We need constant supplies of staples, like: Coffee (and a coffee machine or urn). Tea Suger Milk, Cream Pastries Eggs Veggies for stir frys Bread and things for sandwiches, burritos,etc. We will take almost anything but would prefer to have some local groups, churches, businesses or residents who can keep us stocked on a constant basis to keep us sustained without worry! I, myself, have been a Redwood City Kaiser patient for a long time. And it used to be that I was able to get appointments in the evening because of my hectic work schedule in the day. All of the suddent for at least a year or so, i have been noticing that the appointmets have been changing, cut off, and have become more difficult, even now for anyone (I assume if you too ) including myself to get in the evening. Now, when i call to get an appointment, I find myself gettign a call from a doctor that tries to diagnose over me over the phone when all i wanted to do is to see an Evening Doctor to look at in what i have and come in . It was not like this ever before. Or how about when I personally have also walked in the clinic in the evening, like before as a "drop in patient", used to be able to get appointments and be seen right-away. Now, they let me know that they DO NOT HAVE APPOINTMENTS available and lead me to call the "CALL CENTER" or that the appointments are all booked. MAN-oh-man, I USED TO SEE URGENT CARE BUSY WITH SICK PEOPLE, AND NOW THERE IS HARDLY ANYONE IN THE LOBBY. Why Why Why?? I pay out of pocket and my insurance PRICES are NOT getting better or going down and need some opinions. <![CDATA[The mental health industry dominated by psychiatric influences does not work because there are several fundamental defects in psychiatry itself. Psychiatry never has and never will deliver the results it promised because: 1. They shy away from teaching traditional values. They do not teach right from wrong probably because they do not know right from wrong. In fact, quoting co-founder of the World Federation of Mental Health, psychiatrist G. Brock Chisholm announced that the key aim of psychiatry is "reinterpretation and eventual eradication of right and wrong." This tendency to stay away from right and wrong permeate every literature of psychiatry. 2. They shy away from teaching responsibility. The psychiatric system is geared to blame all things on chemical imbalances, genetics and indefinite childhood experiences. If a person does something wrong, it's because he has a mental disease; he is prescribed medications, not responsibility. This is another fundamental attitude of the psychiatric profession. And that is why when we take a failing student to a psychiatrist, he does not do better in school (Our education system is failing despite years of psychiatric involvement in our schools), and when we take a criminal to a psychiatrist, he is likely to commit another crime. (Current rate of inmates returning to jail is 60%) Responsibility level was never increased by psychiatric treatments. 3. They are purely profit driven. They make $69 billion annually paid by insurance companies alone. They hire thousands upon thousands of lobbyists to seek governmental protection of their interest and grants. They form financial relationships with drug companies. Yet we find uncaring attendants, unavailable doctors and psychiatrists who charge hundreds of dollars to insurance companies for just listening to someone for a short interval and then prescribing some medications. They are not there to help people; they are there to make money because there is easy money in this field. 4. They do not keep their noses clean. Probably because of the above points 1-3, the psychiatric industry is filled with fraudulent and criminal activities. A study showed that at least 10% of the 650,000 psychiatrists and psychiatrists worldwide admit to sexually abusing their patients. A factual review of more than 800 convictions over a six-year period, show 43% were convicted of fraud, theft and embezzlement; 32% for sex crimes; 7% for patient assault and violent crimes; 6% for drug offenses and 6% for manslaughter and murder. Unethical activities have been part of the picture in the field of psychiatry from its earliest days. 5. They use a system of voting mental illnesses into existence which makes the whole subject ludicrous. Disorders voted into existence included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the most authoritative book on officially recognized mental disorders, include "reading disorder", "disruptive behavior disorder", "disorder of written expression", "mathematics disorder", "caffeine intoxication", and "nicotine withdrawal disorder". The increase of mental disorders listed in the books coincides with U.S. government insurance becoming available to the mental health industry in 1968. Because of these reasons, psychiatry did not make it. These are fundamental flaws. They are embedded in the basic theories of psychiatry itself, and these are what's wrong with the mental health system in this country. <![CDATA[I know it's long but it it worth reading: (This is the suicide letter from Joe Stack who crashed his plane into an IRS Office Building.) This is not the letter of a mad man, this is a letter from a man crying out because of the pressure that we as a culture that we as a people have allowed to happen. We have allowed a government, federal reserve, irs, fbi, cia, nsa, etc etc to have soooo much power that the laws across the board are chocking us all to death. One day we won't be able to breath, drink or eat without breaking a law. Do you want to live in a world of laws. Nature has it's own laws, we have no control over them though we have tried and in most situations it has come back to bite us. We have to stop making so many laws and regulations that are absolutely insane or ridiculous; like spitting on the side-walk or turning on your lights when you have your windshield wipers on. But beyond that, it's all about control more than the law itself. If you can control the laws, you can control the people; and in Joe Stack's situation, too many laws suffocated him. Trust me, we are next, each and every one of us. The next time you get a chance, before the April 15, go to your computer and look up all the laws that the irs use. If you dig deep enough you will find, they do not have the right to act on any of their laws, their laws are made by them, no congress. So, technically, they have no judicial jurisdiction. When the irs comes knocking at your door, remember Joe Stack he was one of us and you could be next. Oh, don't forget about all the people who commit suicide, that you don't hear about, because they have lost everything to the federal government and the irs If you’re reading this, you’re no doubt asking yourself, “Why did this have to happen?” The simple truth is that it is complicated and has been coming for a long time. The writing process, started many months ago, was intended to be therapy in the face of the looming realization that there isn’t enough therapy in the world that can fix what is really broken. Needless to say, this rant could fill volumes with example after example if I would let it. I find the process of writing it frustrating, tedious, and probably pointless… especially given my gross inability to gracefully articulate my thoughts in light of the storm raging in my head. Exactly what is therapeutic about that I’m not sure, but desperate times call for desperate measures. We are all taught as children that without laws there would be no society, only anarchy. Sadly, starting at early ages we in this country have been brainwashed to believe that, in return for our dedication and service, our government stands for justice for all. We are further brainwashed to believe that there is freedom in this place, and that we should be ready to lay our lives down for the noble principals represented by its founding fathers. Remember? One of these was “no taxation without representation”. I have spent the total years of my adulthood unlearning that crap from only a few years of my childhood. These days anyone who really stands up for that principal is promptly labeled a “crackpot”, traitor and worse. While very few working people would say they haven’t had their fair share of taxes (as can I), in my lifetime I can say with a great degree of certainty that there has never been a politician cast a vote on any matter with the likes of me or my interests in mind. Nor, for that matter, are they the least bit interested in me or anything I have to say. Why is it that a handful of thugs and plunderers can commit unthinkable atrocities (and in the case of the GM executives, for scores of years) and when it’s time for their gravy train to crash under the weight of their gluttony and overwhelming stupidity, the force of the full federal government has no difficulty coming to their aid within days if not hours? Yet at the same time, the joke we call the American medical system, including the drug and insurance companies, are murdering tens of thousands of people a year and stealing from the corpses and victims they cripple, and this country’s leaders don’t see this as important as bailing out a few of their vile, rich cronies. Yet, the political “representatives” (thieves, liars, and selfserving scumbags is far more accurate) have endless time to sit around for year after year and debate the state of the “terrible health care problem”. It’s clear they see no crisis as long as the dead people don’t get in the way of their corporate profits rolling in. And justice? You’ve got to be kidding! How can any rational individual explain that white elephant conundrum in the middle of our tax system and, indeed, our entire legal system? Here we have a system that is, by far, too complicated for the brightest of the master scholars to understand. Yet, it mercilessly “holds accountable” its victims, claiming that they’re responsible for fully complying with laws not even the experts understand. The law “requires” a signature on the bottom of a tax filing; yet no one can say truthfully that they understand what they are signing; if that’s not “duress” than what is. If this is not the measure of a totalitarian regime, nothing is. How did I get here? My introduction to the real American nightmare starts back in the early ‘80s. Unfortunately after more than 16 years of school, somewhere along the line I picked up the absurd, pompous notion that I could read and understand plain English. Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions. In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy. We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the “best”, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the “big boys” were doing (except that we weren’t steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God). We took a great deal of care to make it all visible, following all of the rules, exactly the way the law said it was to be done. The intent of this exercise and our efforts was to bring about a much-needed re-evaluation of the laws that allow the monsters of organized religion to make such a mockery of people who earn an honest living. However, this is where I learned that there are two “interpretations” for every law; one for the very rich, and one for the rest of us… Oh, and the monsters are the very ones making and enforcing the laws; the inquisition is still alive and well today in this country. That little lesson in patriotism cost me $40,000+, 10 years of my life, and set my retirement plans back to 0. It made me realize for the first time that I live in a country with an ideology that is based on a total and complete lie. It also made me realize, not only how naive I had been, but also the incredible stupidity of the American public; that they buy, hook, line, and sinker, the crap about their “freedom”… and that they continue to do so with eyes closed in the face of overwhelming evidence and all that keeps happening in front of them. Before even having to make a shaky recovery from the sting of the first lesson on what justice really means in this country (around 1984 after making my way through engineering school and still another five years of “paying my dues”), I felt I finally had to take a chance of launching my dream of becoming an independent engineer. On the subjects of engineers and dreams of independence, I should digress somewhat to say that I’m sure that I inherited the fascination for creative problem solving from my father. I realized this at a very young age. The significance of independence, however, came much later during my early years of college; at the age of 18 or 19 when I was living on my own as student in an apartment in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. My neighbor was an elderly retired woman (80+ seemed ancient to me at that age) who was the widowed wife of a retired steel worker. Her husband had worked all his life in the steel mills of central Pennsylvania with promises from big business and the union that, for his 30 years of service, he would have a pension and medical care to look forward to in his retirement. Instead he was one of the thousands who got nothing because the incompetent mill management and corrupt union (not to mention the government) raided their pension funds and stole their retirement. All she had was social security to live on. In retrospect, the situation was laughable because here I was living on peanut butter and bread (or Ritz crackers when I could afford to splurge) for months at a time. When I got to know this poor figure and heard her story I felt worse for her plight than for my own (I, after all, I thought I had everything to in front of me). I was genuinely appalled at one point, as we exchanged stories and commiserated with each other over our situations, when she in her grandmotherly fashion tried to convince me that I would be “healthier” eating cat food (like her) rather than trying to get all my substance from peanut butter and bread. I couldn’t quite go there, but the impression was made. I decided that I didn’t trust big business to take care of me, and that I would take responsibility for my own future and myself. Return to the early ‘80s, and here I was off to a terrifying start as a ‘wet-behind-the-ears’ contract software engineer… and two years later, thanks to the fine backroom, midnight effort by the sleazy executives of Arthur Andersen (the very same folks who later brought us Enron and other such calamities) and an equally sleazy New York Senator (Patrick Moynihan), we saw the passage of 1986 tax reform act with its section 1706. For you who are unfamiliar, here is the core text of the IRS Section 1706, defining the treatment of workers (such as contract engineers) for tax purposes. (a) IN GENERAL - Section 530 of the Revenue Act of 1978 is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new subsection: (d) EXCEPTION. - This section shall not apply in the case of an individual who pursuant to an arrangement between the taxpayer and another person, provides services for such other person as an engineer, designer, drafter, computer programmer, systems analyst, or other similarly skilled worker engaged in a similar line of work. (b) EFFECTIVE DATE. - The amendment made by this section shall apply to remuneration paid and services rendered after December 31, 1986. Note: · “another person” is the client in the traditional job-shop relationship. · “taxpayer” is the recruiter, broker, agency, or job shop. · “individual”, “employee”, or “worker” is you. Admittedly, you need to read the treatment to understand what it is saying but it’s not very complicated. The bottom line is that they may as well have put my name right in the text of section (d). Moreover, they could only have been more blunt if they would have came out and directly declared me a criminal and noncitizen slave. Twenty years later, I still can’t believe my eyes. During 1987, I spent close to $5000 of my ‘pocket change’, and at least 1000 hours of my time writing, printing, and mailing to any senator, congressman, governor, or slug that might listen; none did, and they universally treated me as if I was wasting their time. I spent countless hours on the L.A. freeways driving to meetings and any and all of the disorganized professional groups who were attempting to mount a campaign against this atrocity. This, only to discover that our efforts were being easily derailed by a few moles from the brokers who were just beginning to enjoy the windfall from the new declaration of their “freedom”. Oh, and don’t forget, for all of the time I was spending on this, I was loosing income that I couldn’t bill clients. After months of struggling it had clearly gotten to be a futile exercise. The best we could get for all of our trouble is a pronouncement from an IRS mouthpiece that they weren’t going to enforce that provision (read harass engineers and scientists). This immediately proved to be a lie, and the mere existence of the regulation began to have its impact on my bottom line; this, of course, was the intended effect. Again, rewind my retirement plans back to 0 and shift them into idle. If I had any sense, I clearly should have left abandoned engineering and never looked back. Instead I got busy working 100-hour workweeks. Then came the L.A. depression of the early 1990s. Our leaders decided that they didn’t need the all of those extra Air Force bases they had in Southern California, so they were closed; just like that. The result was economic devastation in the region that rivaled the widely publicized Texas S&L fiasco. However, because the government caused it, no one gave a shit about all of the young families who lost their homes or street after street of boarded up houses abandoned to the wealthy loan companies who received government funds to “shore up” their windfall. Again, I lost my retirement. Years later, after weathering a divorce and the constant struggle trying to build some momentum with my business, I find myself once again beginning to finally pick up some speed. Then came the .COM bust and the 911 nightmare. Our leaders decided that all aircraft were grounded for what seemed like an eternity; and long after that, ‘special’ facilities like San Francisco were on security alert for months. This made access to my customers prohibitively expensive. Ironically, after what they had done the Government came to the aid of the airlines with billions of our tax dollars … as usual they left me to rot and die while they bailed out their rich, incompetent cronies WITH MY MONEY! After these events, there went my business but not quite yet all of my retirement and savings. By this time, I’m thinking that it might be good for a change. Bye to California, I’ll try Austin for a while. So I moved, only to find out that this is a place with a highly inflated sense of self-importance and where damn little real engineering work is done. I’ve never experienced such a hard time finding work. The rates are 1/3 of what I was earning before the crash, because pay rates here are fixed by the three or four large companies in the area who are in collusion to drive down prices and wages… and this happens because the justice department is all on the take and doesn’t give a fuck about serving anyone or anything but themselves and their rich buddies. To survive, I was forced to cannibalize my savings and retirement, the last of which was a small IRA. This came in a year with mammoth expenses and not a single dollar of income. I filed no return that year thinking that because I didn’t have any income there was no need. The sleazy government decided that they disagreed. But they didn’t notify me in time for me to launch a legal objection so when I attempted to get a protest filed with the court I was told I was no longer entitled to due process because the time to file ran out. Bend over for another $10,000 helping of justice. So now we come to the present. After my experience with the CPA world, following the business crash I swore that I’d never enter another accountant’s office again. But here I am with a new marriage and a boatload of undocumented income, not to mention an expensive new business asset, a piano, which I had no idea how to handle. After considerable thought I decided that it would be irresponsible NOT to get professional help; a very big mistake. When we received the forms back I was very optimistic that they were in order. I had taken all of the years information to Bill Ross, and he came back with results very similar to what I was expecting. Except that he had neglected to include the contents of Sheryl’s unreported income; $12,700 worth of it. To make matters worse, Ross knew all along this was missing and I didn’t have a clue until he pointed it out in the middle of the audit. By that time it had become brutally evident that he was representing himself and not me. This left me stuck in the middle of this disaster trying to defend transactions that have no relationship to anything tax-related (at least the tax-related transactions were poorly documented). Things I never knew anything about and things my wife had no clue would ever matter to anyone. The end result is… well, just look around. I remember reading about the stock market crash before the “great” depression and how there were wealthy bankers and businessmen jumping out of windows when they realized they screwed up and lost everything. Isn’t it ironic how far we’ve come in 60 years in this country that they now know how to fix that little economic problem; they just steal from the middle class (who doesn’t have any say in it, elections are a joke) to cover their asses and it’s “business-as-usual”. Now when the wealthy fuck up, the poor get to die for the mistakes… isn’t that a clever, tidy solution. As government agencies go, the FAA is often justifiably referred to as a tombstone agency, though they are hardly alone. The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government. Nothing changes unless there is a body count (unless it is in the interest of the wealthy sows at the government trough). In a government full of hypocrites from top to bottom, life is as cheap as their lies and their self-serving laws. I know I’m hardly the first one to decide I have had all I can stand. It has always been a myth that people have stopped dying for their freedom in this country, and it isn’t limited to the blacks, and poor immigrants. I know there have been countless before me and there are sure to be as many after. But I also know that by not adding my body to the count, I insure nothing will change. I choose to not keep looking over my shoulder at “big brother” while he strips my carcass, I choose not to ignore what is going on all around me, I choose not to pretend that business as usual won’t continue; I have just had enough. I can only hope that the numbers quickly get too big to be white washed and ignored that the American zombies wake up and revolt; it will take nothing less. I would only hope that by striking a nerve that stimulates the inevitable double standard, knee-jerk government reaction that results in more stupid draconian restrictions people wake up and begin to see the pompous political thugs and their mindless minions for what they are. Sadly, though I spent my entire life trying to believe it wasn’t so, but violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer. The cruel joke is that the really big chunks of shit at the top have known this all along and have been laughing, at and using this awareness against, fools like me all along. I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Once we have come to a mutual understanding, there will be peace and in that peace we will find happiness, and in happiness we will find joy, and in joy we will find love. Love for the One-Self that we truly are. To find this peace, happiness, joy and love; we must forgive everything and everyone including our selves. RICHMOND, CA (April 6, 2009) -- House Rabbit Society (HRS) strongly urges parents not to buy their children live "Easter bunnies" unless they are willing to make a 10-year commitment to properly care for the animals. Each year, thousands of baby rabbits, chicks, and ducks are purchased as Easter gifts only to be abandoned or left at shelters in the days, weeks and months that follow Easter. Margo DeMello, president of HRS, encourages rabbit lovers to support the "Make Mine Chocolate" campaign created by the Columbus, Ohio, chapter of HRS. "Rabbits are not 'low maintenance' pets," says DeMello; they require at least the same amount of work as a cat or dog, and often more. Chocolate rabbits are a great alternative; kids can enjoy them for 10 minutes, and they won't have to take care of them for the next 10 years." Mary Cotter, vice-president of HRS, says that many of the rabbits purchased as Easter pets will never live to see their first birthday. Some will die from neglect, while others will be abandoned in local parks or left at animal shelters. "It is irresponsible for pet stores to push rabbits and other so-called Easter animals during the holiday," says Cotter. "Unless parents are willing to take full responsibility for the possible 10-year lifepan of a live rabbit, they should buy their children chocolate rabbits instead." Most children want a companion they can hold, carry and cuddle, but rabbits are fragile, ground-loving creatures who break easily when dropped. Additionally, rabbits are easily frightened by loud noises. It is unreasonable to expect a small child to make a 10-year commitment to taking care of a rabbit. All too often, the child loses interest, and the rabbit ends up neglected or abandoned. Does this mean no families with children should never have pet rabbits? "Not at all!" says DeMello. "But what it does mean is that parents must be actively involved on a daily basis, and willing to supervise any interactions between rabbits and children. Otherwise, chocolate is the way to go!" For families willing to make the long-term commitment , here are a few points to consider before acquiring a rabbit: # Housing: Bunnies need a roomy indoor cage that is approximately four times the size of the adult rabbit. The cage should not have a wire bottom, as the wire can cause sores on the rabbit's feet. There should be room for a litterbox, toys, food and water bowls. # Playtime: Rabbits need plenty of exercise and should be allowed at least 30 hours out-of-cage running time in a rabbit-proofed area of the home per week. # Outdoors: Rabbits should never be left outdoors unsupervised. They can , literally, be frightened to death when approached by predators such as dogs, cats, raccoons and owls. They can also dig under fences to escape. # Litter Box: Rabbits, once spayed or neutered, will readily use litterboxes that are place in one corner of the rabbit's cage; the rabbit's running space should contain at least one additional box. Use dust-free litter--not the clumping kind, and no softwood shavings. # Diet: Bunnies need fresh water, unlimited fresh, grass hay, 1-2 cups of fresh vegetables, and a small serving (1/4 c per 5 lb. rabbit) of plain rabbit pellets each day. # Health: Like dogs and cats, rabbits should be spayed or neutered. The risk of uterine cancer in unspayed female rabbits is alarmingly high., and unneutered males are likely to spray. # Grooming: Rabbits shed their coat 3-4 times per year; use a flea comb and brush away excess fur. A person who chooses a baby rabbit as a pet must: # Have lots of time, a household that can withstand some chewing, and a stable residence. # Expect an unneutered/unspayed baby will spray urine on the walls. Know that neutering/spaying (at four to six months) will stop the problem. # Expect accidents when baby forgets the location of the litterbox. # Allow the energetic young rabbit at least 30 hours a week of free time outside her cage. # Know the cute baby will soon be an adult rabbit and may have a different personality. If you think you would enjoy sharing your home with a rabbit, please contact your local animal shelter, HRS chapter or rabbit rescue group for information about adopting a rabbit. No matter where you live, you are probably within 10 miles of a rabbit who desperately needs a safe, indoor home. He went through all of things - including my closets - while I was out visiting a friend in the hospitral. He knew where I had gone and why I had gone out. He waited for me to leave then stole my stuff then went on craigslsit rideshare and found someone going to portland. He then asked James to also give him a ride to Sam's computer shop in Springfield where he sold my stolen laptop for $200. He found Sam on Craigslsit. He then went to portland where he quicly listed my sony cyber shot camera my kids had given me for Christmas on Craigslist. He then went on Craigslist and tried to get a ride to Vegas. He got as far as medford where he again listed my camera. He got in touch with me and told me he'd return my camera BUT he has no money. As of Tuesday night he had SAM'S money that he got for my stolen laptop. At the risk of NOT GETTING MY CAMERA BACK do NOT do biz with Ryan Hodder - DO NOT GIVE HIM A RIDE, SHELTER OR BUY AND SELL FROM HIM. EVEN IF IT MEANS I DON'T GET MY CAMERA BACK I would hate for someone else to be the victim of this thief. And since the only way RYAN HODDER makes money is by stealing from the poor working people trying to make it in the tough economy - I'd rather he didn't get his $$$$ from stealing YOUR things!!!
