<![CDATA[We are embarking on a grand adventure creating a community art center located in Anacortes, Wa! We are currently looking for local Washington art to show in our building. If you are interested in showing your work in a low budget, non-arrogant environment, where all kinds of folks can view your work, let us know! We are still in the painting and cleaning stages of this project, so our website, pics, etc. are not quite complete. Our next kick-off event coincides with our town's art walk which is always the first Friday of the month (next one is April 2nd). Our event is called "First Free Friday", which will always be free music of various kinds, community potluck and local art of various mediums for all kinds of people to enjoy. The concept is that everyone ends up at our building after the art walk to eat, converse, enjoy local art and do some mural painting in our venue space. I would be curious to know the measurements of artwork. We have approx. 3,000, yes, 3,000 sq. ft. of space to potentially fill with art for this first event and upcoming events. Our goal is to fill the building with life and love! We are a community center where little kids will be hanging out, so particular subject matters might be unsuitable. <![CDATA[I have been lampworking aka blowing glass for about 10 years now. I am lucky to be in a city that has a lot of headshops so when I first started I mainly made pipes. I did sell to quite a few headshops but was looking for a wider market and a less defined product. I got into making jewelry. I started doing jewelry 5-6 years ago, mainly pendants/necklaces, beads, and bracelts. In my ventures I was able to meeet a lot of wonderful artists, leatherworkers, metalsmiths, and of course lampworkers. I learned a lot and wanted to give back in some way. I have been a photographer for a few years now, and my primary subjects tend to be my friends, my kids, and people walking on the streets. Recently, I have decided to try to expand my subjects to include people in their natural environments. Basically, my photography tends to be much better when I can understand where the subject is coming from and what their personalities are. Craigslist clearly became the best way to reach a large and diverse group of people. I am looking for people in their environments, whether the environments include work, at leisure (bowling, swimming, sitting at a park, etc.), or out and about on the streets. What I am looking for: -Anyone 18 and over who has ever thought for 1 minute that they were interesting. (Needs to be over 18 because of legal releases) -Anyone interested in modeling (You don’t have to be a super model) -Male and/or female (I am open to photographing models of any and all sex, ethnicity, sexual orientations, etc.) I will be offering free prints in exchange for allowing me to take photographs of you. <![CDATA[Hi, I'm a native pacific islander, male, retired, visual artist, artisan and I relocated my entire families after 30 years in the tropic in Oct. 2009 in search for green pasture, but most specially for my granddaughter in need of medical attention. We left many of our belongings back home - too costly S/H, most of my tools, materials and supplies are still in boxes and still haven't had any luck landing a job after many attempts, but still searching. Having free time I started making small drawings, small glass paintings and miniature coconut crafts since it's all I can afford at this time; I don't drive yet, but my kids takes me to wherever I want on their free time but not far distance; since we are new to this country, I am learning everything it takes to have my first solo exhibition which maybe in Aug. ArtWalk Issaquah is a lively, festive event with a variety of artistic styles and live music in multiple locations. <![CDATA[The Lake Stevens Arts Commission is seeking proposals from qualified artists to design and integrate a free-standing sculpture in the center of the new roundabout that will be built on Lundeen Parkway in the heart of Lake Stevens. Lake Stevens, a city within Snohomish County, is located southeast of Marysville and eight miles east of Everett, Washington. It is centered around a 1,040 acre natural lake with eight miles of shoreline. In 1960, Lake Stevens was incorporated. Its population has increased rapidly in the last 5 years, and due to a recent annexation, the city boasts just over 25,600 residents .The lake remains the focal point of the community for recreation and social events due to the city surrounding the lake in all directions. The lake itself also supports numerous species of fish, waterfowl, amphibians, reptiles, and bald eagles. The new roundabout will be constructed on the north side of Lake Stevens, at the intersection of Vernon Road, Lake Drive, and Lundeen Parkway. Once completed, the roundabout will be 72 feet wide. In addition, there will be a five-foot wide sidewalk around the perimeter and a border of 1.5-feet of vertical curbing. The Lake Stevens Arts Commission is seeking proposals to design and build a sculpture for the center of the roundabout. The sculpture should reflect the theme of the lake and its natural inhabitants.
