Based on numbers stamped on the rear hub, I believe this is was manufactured in 1979, but the model looks much more classic / old than this. It was my first road bike and has served me fantastically. Flats, hills (13% no problemos), centurions, STPs, downhills (max registered 48 mph), .... you name it. The bike handled super great and it still does; nice stiff in the crank. The full Ultegra gruppo is nice and clean and adjusted to shift smoothly. Cleaned and lubed for you. Whom will the bike fit: I am 5' 9 1/2" with 31 1/2" inseam. After some awesome 3,000 miles on this bike a bike doc (at Corpore Sano) looked at me and the bike and said: you are a bit not proportional (short legs) and need to adjust the bike to fit you perfectly. And so I did: more offset seatpost and higher angle stem. Handling difference - perhaps some but at least I know I have short legs :-). I also upgraded the saddle to a super comfy Fizik Vitesse Tri (I know it's women saddle but visually unnoticeable and crazy comfy while still racy looking). The upgrades might be a great addition for someone as not proportional as I am :-) If you are 31" to 32” inseam and 5'7" to 5'9" you will be perfectly OK without the upgraded seatpost and stem. If you are the above inseam and a bit higher than 5’ 9” (probably no more than 5' 10 1/2") the upgrades might suit the bike better for you. You can come, hop on and we can check. The Fizik saddle is always a nice upgrade but the original Selle Italia had worked for me very well too (I did some 3,500 miles on it). If you want to just pedal short distance, go for miles or push hard and attack some crazy hills this is the bike for you without dropping major buck. I decided to go "blink" and got myslef a sub 15lb Jamis Xenith SL bike. This Scattante has been an absolute kicker for me but it just will not be ridden anymore (I ride only in fair weather and do not need two bikes). Get it and you won't be disappointed. Test rides (in dry) OK. (I have nice hills around my house) ]]>

I stripped off the paint because the paintjob was looking pretty ratty. don't worry though, aluminum doesn't rust. suntour cranks comes with grimica hydraulic disc brakes, but they need to be bled, so they are non-functional at the moment.]]>
