I do not smoke and, as my asthma is aggravated by smoking, need a smoke free environment. I do not party/drink (100% drug free) often, but if I do it usually involves going out with friends on the weekend and blowing off steam. I'm definitely open to a house party now and then or outdoor bbq, but not a "party & up all night/every night" kind of environment. I admit to be a meat lover! I know many aren't, and although my meat & eggs will be visible I am experienced in the pan separation, etc. if you are a vegetarian. Baking is one of my greatest pleasures, but I am cutting back on it (and most anything with flour & sugar) as it seems to be bad for my waist. Roommate living is a bit of give and take. I'm definitely willing to overlook one of 'your' character flaws if you'd return the favor and do so with my lack of morning "perkiness". Mornings and I have never made friends. I thrive in a clean, well-maintained environment and propose that we share weekly chores to achieve that. Respect for personal privacy also comes with a shared living situation. I would hope you'd be willing to extend as much as I would be giving to you. I have no issues with your sexual orientation (I am straight). The back of the house would be preferable if at all possible. It is not that I am anti-social, but the cats are indoor only & I'm thinking that a larger room away from traffic would be best for them. Since my cats are older, they've had many years of being loved and they know it; probably the most spoiled cats you will ever come across ;). Due to the length of time it took them to achieve a balance between themselves and their different personalities, I don't feel they should interact with another animal(s). Most people don't even know I am `differently-abled', but I think it is only fair to be upfront about it with someone whose life it may affect. I'm looking for a soundproofed (if it's a basement) or otherwise quiet mother-in-law apartment, or private suite of two rooms (one bedroom and one as an office/living space, in which to write my thesis). I'd much prefer to have my own bathroom (with access to a bathtub hopefully). Everyone has different levels of interraction they enjoy with people living near/with them. I'd like it if we could occasionally have tea, and were friendly without feeling pressure to have a strong friendship unless it developed naturally. I am also fine if you just want to be left completely alone. I am a very quiet person naturally, but I do have moments of laughing, singing, dancing...and I would like to feel comfortable to be able to express the more effusive side of me at home, but I am always very considerate...and can just `save it' for when I'm alone. I don't imagine I'll ever be having `parties', but may have an occasional dinner and movie night for a couple of friends. We would like to swap for your home in Seattle during the month of December for anywhere from 5 to 9 days in length (ideally, a week bracketed by two weekends, but possibly just a long weekend too). We'd like to find a home in any of the in-city neighborhoods, but not in the suburbs. High speed internet access is a must so that I can do some computer work while I'm there. We have a small dog, and if you do too it's possible that the dogs could accompany us on the swap.
