I can play rhythm and lead guitar, and can teach students (youngsters and oldsters) to play guitar anywhere from the basic (beginning) levels - intermediate (slightly advanced) levels. I can teach you how to play all of your chords, barre chords and scales to learn how to play lead guitar. I can teach you strumming techniques and alternate picking techniques to play all of your favorite guitar riffs and solos. If you are slightly more advanced, I can teach you how to do pinch harmonics, neck tapping, arpeggios, hamer on, pull offs, etc. If you play bass guitar, I can teach you from the beginning levels - intermediate. I can teach you how to hold the bass properly and I can play either with or without a pick, so I can show you both ways. I can teach you some walking bass lines in major and minor modes, as well as showing you a lot of your favorite songs, as we go over bass tab. I teach a variety of classical repertoire, fun arrangements of songs (music like 'Star Wars' is often a hit) - and I'm open to working in any styles that a person is motivated to play. (The same core principles and fundamentals can be applied to all music!) I've studied with many great teachers throughout my life, and I've gradually created a system that combines the best of everything I've learned. I believe in humor, kindness, "excellence in music," etc. Often, lessons include: Warm-ups, refining music one has been working on, learning something new, a few fun exercises that build fundamental skills (note-reading, rhythms, etc.), and occasional improvising (to help with gaining an understanding of how musical phrases flow together, developing a natural sense of rhythm, etc.). MUSIC THEORY AND COMPOSITION For those who write music, I'm a composer and always enjoy working with people on their writing - and can offer as much composition and theory knowledge as you can handle! I've worked with a lot of electronic musicians, and people who are currently studying composition in a school program. I work in everything from Renaissance to 21st Century.
