I'm a composer and euphoniumist/trombonist that is interested in trying to start a new music collective in the south sound area. Just posting this to start sending out feelers to see if there are any other musicians interested in bringing new music, or old music presented in new ways to the Tacoma area. Looking for any instrumentalists, vocalists, and/or composers that would be interested in starting something new and exciting.

What I'm envisioning is a group that doesn't moan about how no one is interested in contemporary music, but is instead willing to go out and make people interested in it. A group that would be just as interested in playing in a non-traditional venue like a bar or a street corner as they would a concert hall. If the people won't come to you, go to them and grab their attention kind of attitude. Basically a collective that would avoid and fight the elitist attitude that is often associated with new music. Details are fuzzy at this point, but need to get people involved before a cohesive vision can be attained.

If this is something you'd be interested in, fire me an email and I'll start coordinating a network of people who share a vision of something new in the Tacoma area music scene.

-Brian
Beginning guitar lessons. I have a guitar you can use, however, you'll need one eventually to practice with on your own. My rate is $35 per hour, most lessons are an hour long and we can do 1 or 2 times a week.
We will begin by learning the basics: the guitar itself, how to tune, how to string and then on to learning your first chords and reading chord charts. Within two lessons you will be able to play a song. Playing the guitar is such a great way to express yourself, relax and it gives you the satisfaction of accomplishment.

Wed Mar 10 was the second installment of the workshop & jam session night at the Gypsy Java. Next Wed will the next event and you can find details here:

www.newearthmusic.com/gypsy

The Mar 17, St. Patrick's Day workshop is scheduled for all out jam session. What I am planning is some early workshop practice and to ensure everyone has what they need to continue on to the next workshop. We will also work on the amplified jam so everyone can be heard, and learn to work with mic's. This might be a great alternative for players and listeners that want something different that a big noisy Irish bar, which is fun, or a great jam where you can still get a beer and some food....and play music.
I am making a slight change to the program as listed on the website. All workshops will work with both bluegrass, swing and gypsy jazz tunes. The jazz might be a little more difficult, but you will see that it is not such a long hop and the jazz side will help you assimilate some theory and improve your technique and rhythm.

The idea is to enjoin many on all string instruments for a series of progressive workshops where players new or old can improve and take on more advanced concepts and more additions to their repertoire and….the repertoire we will be jamming with. One year from now we will have a fantastic jam session repertoire and some of the students & jammers might even perform in groups along with organized groups.

It will be possible to come in after the series of workshops get started, but we will have to figure out how to get you up to speed. All serious students that attend regularly participate & practice enough relative to their time constraints will meet individually to map out a music strategy with a one-year plan, and provided with workbook and chord charts and other material. This is all part of my Accelerated Music Plan (AMP).

As for multiple string instruments, I have several approaches to making that work, and I will have video demos and professional/experienced musicians come in for certain instruments. A key principle of the workshop is that each player knows what the other player learns and is doing on their instruments. This will increase and expand your musical knowledge and understand the dynamics of jamming and playing in a group. All instruments are welcome including violin, fiddle, viola, guitar, mandolin, mandola, banjo, cello, acoustic bass and even electric bass.

What is it:

Peter Tilton & the Gypsy Java Café & Pub are launching a new non-profit music program which will support the non-profit organization Peter has formed to promote, teach, perform and play acoustic style music with a focus on Gypsy Jazz, Bluegrass & Fiddle, swing and progressive cross-over styles.

Peter’s non-profit foundation, newearthworkshop.org is sponsoring a no-cost (FREE) program of music including learning workshops, performances by local or national artists, or performances by local groups and jammers. Jamming and getting jammers on stage in groups is one of the many goals. Everyone playing or listening to music is the outcome.

This is a fun and educational program that brings people together to learn and play music and attracts people who want to listen with music that is music however it turns out. However, we will do what we can to take it down to tight hot guitars, violins, mandos, basses, dobros, banjos.

All of this is happening at the Gypsy Cafe located in the sweet spot between Seattle and the U-district serving fine coffee, beer, wine, & affordable food in a rustic, comfortable atmosphere.

Contact:
pt@newearthmusic.com
360-774-1986

Gypsy Java Cafe & Pub
3510 Stone Way North
Seattle, WA 98103
206-632-0647
Hello,

Have you ever heard a certain tone from one of your favorite musicians, and find out that they use a certain Boss DS-1, MXR Phase 90, or an Ibanez Tube Screamer ECT ECT and you go buy the exact same pedal they use, hook it up to your guitar and amp, just to find out it doesn't even come close to the TONE that your favorite artist has? Well, all the PRO's have there effects modified. It's a fact. I am here to help you with that. I do the exact same type of modifications Keeley and Analog.Man do. But I take it to a different level. I don't just modify a tube screamer the same every time and call it good, I don't because every amplifier and guitar has different tone. I just go a few steps further by matching these modifications up with your gear. I use top quality components
I modify over 150 different pedals. Boss, Ibanez, MXR, Dunlop, Electro harmonix. Just to name a few.
I also build boutique pedals as well.
Leave your name and number and what pedal you would like to have modified, or built.
I will call you back quickly with a great low price.
Dan.
Everett Lynnwood Seattle Renton Bellevue Marysville Bothell Millcreek Tacoma Edmonds Snohomish Monroe Lake Stevens
hello everyone, im a bass player and im looking for some people to jam with (im 420 FRIENDLY, looking for you to be). whether its a band that just needs bass or a drummer or a guitarist, dont matter, i wanna jam with any instrument. the more the better. i just wanna play with some different people for once. im a bass player of about 8 years and im 19. please dont assume im just an average bass player. i know my bass. i ACTUALLY use all 4 strings and all 5 when i have one around. i play fretless. i dont wanna jam with a guitarist where im a more technical bassist than he can even play his guitar. it doesnt sound right, and it happens all too often. soooooo that being said. give me a call anytime if you wanna jam. 425 293 2099.... and im not gonna give you a list of bands we should sound like. cause im tired of seeing it on here. lets play something a little different. experiment. expand. you know? however, i am influenced by these bands in no order: portugal the man, pink floyd, beatles, lennon, modest mouse, against me!, minus the bear, the mars volta, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, the black dahlia murder, white chapel, fear before, kay kay and his weathered underground, wild orchid children, frodus, arctic monkeys, circa survive, rx bandits, the sound of animals fighting, pinback, and probably about 100 more. i love playing any genre, anything i can groove to, and anything i can get nitty gritty on. oh haha i guess i forgot to mention i sing too and can do so while playing bass. it would be pretty cool if you can sing. but you dont have to.

thanks

-cody

ps im down to jam this weekend if you call

Need a guitar player for a showcase with some major labels and a full time spot if you mesh well. We will need to practice together multiple times a week to ramp up and prepare (with the assumption that you will be practicing daily on your own as well) and play some local shows to work out the kinks. We need to be playing as soon as the end of this month... This is a legit gig, so no tweakers or weirdos... You need to look good enough and play well enough to be in front of major label decision makers. Showcases may have to be in LA or NYC. The labels will pay for the trip, but you need to be ready to go.
Check out the music at www.madsilence.com
I recorded, sang, and played all of the music so I can show you what you need to know. Gigging band looking for a drummer. Ours is about ready to ride off into the sunset and we need someone looking to learn a bunch of songs fast. We practice once a week and usually have a gig every weekend and sometimes 2. Our interests are in a range from Johnny Cash, Elvis to Tom Petty, Skynyrd. Respond if you're intested in a tryout. It doesn't take a lot of gear, just a good sense of rhythm and good attitude with lots of time on your hands. Established pop/rock n' roll act with great songs needs tight, unflashy rhythm section for shows and touring. Also interested in a Steve Nieve-esque keyboardist. I live in Olympia, but we can all commute if you're reasonably nearby. Without sounding too immodest, this is a more cool opportunity than most craigslist ads--we have label support and an LP that sold out very quickly. I would prefer hard-working youngish individuals who are just dying to be in a rock n' roll band. No splash-cymbal drummer glory, just four beats in the bar (usually). Women and pro-feminist men especially encouraged to apply. E-mail me at monareels@hotmail.com. Thanks, we'll be friends!
Hi, my name is Tyler.
I'm a guitarist from Puyallup, WA. I've been playing since I was 13, and I am already a very experienced, self taught guitar player. I pretty much taught myself guitar theory.
I have all my own gear. Ibanez RG4EXFM1, Jackson RRFV, Ibanez GAX70, Line 6 HD150 S3 Half Stack, Line 6 Pod UX1 (Recording).
I'm looking for a Hardcore style band that isn't trying to be like everyone else. Its ok to stick to one genre, but I want people who aren't afraid to stray away from it as well.
Some of my influences include (alphabetically); 3 Inches Of Blood, All Shall Perish, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Avenged Sevenfold, Born Of Osiris, Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, Children Of Bodom, DAATH, The Devil Wears Prada, Escape The Fate (Older), Job For A Cowboy, Killswitch Engage, Lamb Of God, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park (Definitely older), Parkway Drive, Ratt, Silverstein, Slayer, Slipknot, Suicide Silence, The Used (Mainly old), Van Halen (Not Van Hagar, hehe), White Chapel, Winds Of Plague.
I know that was a lot, but that's mainly what I'm influenced by.
I am looking for a band! I want music to be my career! Not just something I do in my spare time!
I have a ride most of the time, but when I don't we have a place to practice. I will also be getting my license soon.
I've been toying with recording and mixing. I can scream like a beast and I can do some good clean vocals. (Not very good in the higher region unless I use my falsetto voice.) I'm also getting better at singing/screaming while playing.
I am in fact 17, but in my opinion, age doesn't matter. I'm just as mature as any adult.
My myspace URL is http://myspace.com/spidytyler and if you look in my play list, there is a song called 'Hate'. That song is all me with guitar and vocals. The drums were created in Acoustica Beatcraft.

Overall, I am a very talented, nice person if you give me a chance to be. So hit me up and lets jam!
I'll be happy to give you any info you need!

Thank you very much for taking the time!

Sincerely,
Tyler

Again, we are a HARD ROCK/METAL-type original band!

BTW... we don't need breast implants, cheap Viagra, make $30 million in a week following your secrets, meet lonely WA singles, or any other crap you are trying to sell, so keep your SPAM to yourself (unless you have actual Spam meat product... then let's talk!)

New Project (unnamed) - NEEDS A GUITARIST! Send us a message!

*disclaimer
These demos are one person's (cullen-guitar) ideas made out of an apartment w/ programmed drums. They were made for finding other people for the project. We now have a full band (minus a good 2nd guitarist) and the ideas/band sounds way better live. We are working towards laying down real demos very soon. Yes, we have a vocalist and a fulltime practice space...yes...you want to join this project..

Send a message!

http://www.myspace.com/ahsideproject

http://www.myspace.com/ahsideproject

http://www.myspace.com/ahsideproject

http://www.myspace.com/ahsideproject

http://www.myspace.com/ahsideproject

http://www.myspace.com/ahsideproject

http://www.myspace.com/ahsideproject
In the hopes of finding someone musically compatible w/me, I've decided to just take it one song at a time. I love this song and I'm just looking for someone who shares my taste in music and is open to collaboration with a truly honest, heartfelt, and humble vocalist. Afterall, it's my philosophy that the song must come first and the singer is merely a translator responsible for it's message. Seeking a guitarist who shares this view and is not looking for fame, but simply enjoys making music. If this sounds interesting to you, then I hope you'll be in touch. Thanks for reading!

~SookieJu

I'm a girl, and I like to sing, and I sing well. I really wanna be in a band (and it doesn't necessarily have to be serious, maybe like a cover band to start) and get my life somewhere other than sitting at home doing absolutely NOTHING. I'd prefer if you weren't older than 17 or younger than 14, but I'll take you into consideration if you're 18 or 19. My influences are Paramore, Hey Monday, All Time Low, Push Play, The Maine, things like that. I can also rap a little bit if you wanna mix it up a little. AND, if you want to hear me, reply to this post and we'll talk on e-mail about how we can do that. (:

29 year old songwriter here looking to take ideas both digital and acoustic and turn them into 100% awesome. I write mostly on acoustic guitar, but I also use digital programs in the absence of people to write with. The digital interpretations ( http://www.reverbnation.com/kingfischer ) are just one direction that those songs could go. If you'd like to work together and add your contribution to the songs that I have, let me know. I just moved to Washington in June and I'm very eager to start playing music with people again. This will be a live band and I absolutely must hit the stage again. I already have a prospective drummer lined up. I just need musicians that don't mind moody music with a lot of room for creative input and interpretation. I've added more songs to the Reverb Nation site and I plan on recording acoustic demos of more songs that will be up in a week or two. Guitarist, please be able to play rhythm and some lead (shredding not needed). Have some experience please and please listen to the demos before replying.

We're a Seattle based indie rock band currently recording our first album. We're looking to expand our sound for our album by bringing in some new members. We're looking for people to record on the album but also looking for people who want to continue playing with us. We've been compared to Low, a "grassroots" Portishead, which is weird, and Mazzy Star meets Yes. OK, I made that last one up but it might be true. You can listen to us at www.myspace.com/snowballfight2008
We're called GHOST HONEY. A small label is going to put out a 7" in April and then we'll be self releasing our full length unless our single takes off or gets attention or something good happens. Please go have a listen and if you like, please contact me. We are currently in production and would like to start meeting new musicians asap. Our line up right now consists of three of us. I write the basic songs for guitar/vocals and then we bring in the saw(bass and tenor)mandolin, banjo, glockenspiel depending on the song and what sounds best. Last but certainly not least the drums. If you don't play a horn or violin but some other cool unique instrument please feel free to write. We're nice people. We have some dirty mouths on us and we like to goof but we're not into hard drugs, we don't really get wasted a whole lot and we respect each other so band politics are almost non-existent. Can't wait to hear from you.
Looking for two or three Ladies to do some back-up vocals and mabey some lead lines. Percussionists welcome if timing is solid not all songs need a cowbell or a shaker or triangle ect.. If you play a brass or reed instrument would be a PLUS but not required, Or a keyboardist would work well also. We are looking to do some Blues and Soul and will through some Rock at you aswell. Please include samples (or sites) of what you do. Age and Race and Size is not as important as ability and ATTITUDE. Let me know what your free time is like so we can work something out.
