<![CDATA[I've been questioning what the parties actually represent and found that very few voters know what their chosen party represents. So I highlighted some of the ideals represented by Republicans and Democrats. I found this information in Wiki, but have been inspired to seek out facts from other reliable sources in order to become a more educated and more powerful voter. I am posting a separate post investigating a few of the Democratic parties ideology also because I really am interested in picking this apart. I hope you are inspired to be an informed voter as well and share what you learn. I included my commentary of what I got out of this and I want to know what other people are getting? Republican Republicanism is the ideology of governing a nation as a republic, where the head of state is appointed by means other than heredity, often elections. The exact meaning of republicanism varies depending on the cultural and historical context. Some contrary definitions: Radicalism emerged in European states in the 19th century. Although most radical parties later came to be in favor of economic liberalism (capitalism), thus justifying the absorption of radicalism into the liberal tradition, all 19th century radicals were in favor of a constitutional republic and universal suffrage, while European liberals were at the time in favor of constitutional monarchy and census suffrage. Thus, radicals were as much Republicans as liberals, if not more. A different interpretation of republicanism is used among political scientists. To them a republic is the rule by many and by laws while a princedom is the arbitrary rule by one. By this definition despotic states are not republics while, according to some such as Kant, constitutional monarchies can be. Kant also argues that a pure democracy is not a republic, as it is the unrestricted rule of the majority. For some, republicanism meant simply the lack of a monarchy, while for others monarchy was compatible with republicanism. Republicanism became the dominant political value of Americans during and after the American Revolution. The "Founding Fathers" were strong advocates of republican values, especially Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, George Washington, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton11] Commentary: (Open for discussion) Republican ideology states that we all have rights that cannot be over ruled by the government, or shouldn’t be over ruled by any government. Who’s idea was “Homeland Security”? Wasn't the Republican party calling the shots here? Where is my right to have an abortion (AKA- my personal religious/moral right) or smoke or grow marijuana like G. Washington, himself? Just to name two of the biggest issues holding up progress. This also explains why corporations rule. Democracy is scary to Republicans because it means “unrestricted rule of the majority”. In the case of the USA, the American people would be identified as the “majority”. Republicans rejected the idea of “arbitrary rule by one” when they rejected a monarchial system of Europe where a royal family ruled. What the Republican system has done as a result is, put the corporations in power over the people. And the government answers to the corporations. That is how people become slaves to the system again. That is what voting Republican means? ]]>

This is the Democrat ideology I spoke of in my post Are you Republican? I can understand why people who identify with the Republican party would have an issue with the welfare system. It's a system that supports people who can't support themselves. The problem is, that people abuse the system and because no system is perfect and can only be improved with the proper funding, what started as a good idea has become a drain on federal money. There is nothing wrong with taking care of the lesser of us when they can't do it for themselves...(It's what a country that claims to be "Christian" and pushes "Christian" morals would do, right?) So how do we take a good idea and make it work? The Democratic ideology seems to be that we all have a responsibility to preserve and maintain what we consider "OURS". Whether it be our personal home, our home city, our home state or our home country; The property we live on, the streets we drive on, the civil services that rescue us and keep us safe, the forces that protect our natural land when we fail to do it ourselves. Democrates view taxes as a way we all pay to maintain those things and it is the responsibility of the people. Now I'm a grown up so with my grown up reasoning I'm applying this concept to life on a family level, "When my children became capable adults, I expected them to respect themselves by becoming personally responsible. They should pay something into the household when their shelter, food and cook! pick-up service and utilities are provided where they live. Who fixes things? Part of the payment is in monitary (taxes) and part is household cleaning (community contribution). It is totally fair and reasonable to expect to pay for a certain lifestyle. If the people don't pay then the corporations will and are. Government goes to the highest bidder. Pure democracy is not a republic, as it is the unrestricted rule of the majority (the people). That is lost when corporations/big business control the Government. Corporations aren't concerned with our best interests though it's our money supporting them and that make all things possible for them and possible for them to get away with at "the peoples" expense. It's like paying for your own execution. That's just how I see it. If you are seeing something different then I need to know, but please say it with some measure of intellect.]]>

Now pay attention and I'll try to explain a thing or two about explosives. Different types of explosives are used in different applications. To cut, you would use something like TNT, det. cord or a C/4 type explosive. To push or move, dynamite which detonates at a much slower rate of foot per second. Concrete does not pulverize from a blast, "other than a small amount at the point of impact". The dust was from the grinding together of chunks of concrete as the building was caving and falling in upon itself, friction produced the dust, not explosives. Thermite or thermate is used as a cutting agent and would only be effective in a controlled situation. It would produce no dust on it's own. As to the troofers claim that thermite particles were found in the dust of the WTS. The most common material used in thermite is aluminum, the most abundant metal found in nature, even in sea water. It would be found in its natural state in the sand used to make concrete. You "experts" want to use the presence of aluminum in its natural state as proof that the buildings came down by detonation instead of planes flying into them and the impact and fire weakening the support structures. I have not. As any one known that works with steel when you heat it up it changes the tensile strength and temper of the metal. This makes it pliable. This is why knife steel is heated first to make it workable than re-tempered back to its original hardness. It was not melted, just heated. What would be the effect of massive structure failure ¾ the way up due to steel being superheated and weakened by a fuel fire (not melted). When the full weight of ¼ of the towers hammers down on the lower structure? And that weight is compounded at each level. Would it not have been what we observed. ? How many tons of explosive would it take to bring down the towers the way we saw? How many years would it take to covertly introduce and hide the explosive in a place that is occupied 24/7 tower. Dow much drilling and prep work would it have taken? How many shape charges, thousand? Would you not have seen the blowouts at the lower areas if this method was used.? Do you think it would be possible to recreate this act with explosives? And hide it, Have you ever smelt the air after a demolition. Pretty distinctive smell, That many tons of explosives and you would smell it down wind in Vermont.(over statement) and everyone be farting for a day. Gives you terrible gas. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not. 3. Please print all Mexican government forms in English. 4 I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers. 5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history. 6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school. 7. <![CDATA[Against my better judgement,I'll bite. In your own arguement, you claim that the fuel from the planes burns at 1500 degress. You then go on to claim that steel melts at 2600 degrees. So, let's begin here. If your task was to take a piece of steel and use fuel to melt it bu holding the steel in the flame until it melted, in a controlled environment, I would have to agree with you that it would never melt. But , that is not the simplicity of your arguement. Seeing as iron workers used to heet and melt metals with fuel sources that did not burn that hot, you must wonder how did they do it? Well, when you confine the space the fuel source is burned in, then forcefeed it with fresh air, you can greatly intensify the heat. Now, let's look at the WTC towers. No one is suggesting that the steel was dowsed in jet fuel, then lit, and a building collapsed. The buildings, which were full of flamables ( desks , chairs, walls, paper, plastics, electricity,etc) were almost instantly ignited with a powerful explosion and a punching hole in both sides of the building. You now have a very confined space with large amounts of fuel sources. Open the side of the building and add the tremendous amount of fresh air that would be pulled in like a vacuum, you will create much higher temps, and even if not enough to melt, certainly hot enough to significantly weaken the steel structures. This created a massive collapse of support structures with multiple floors suddenly falling full force with a weight force the remaining structures could not possibly continue to support. If you actually watched the building in slow speed, you would see that the building did not fall in free fall speeds, the outer debris falling was traveling unmistakibly fsater than the core of the building. As the floor collapsed and the weight increased on the remaining supports, the descent speed of the building began to increase, but never to free fall speed. Evident by the debris continuing to fall faster than the collapsing building. It happened, it was horrible, but it was undoubtedly was not brought down by preplanted explosives.]]>

<![CDATA[Conspiracy theory logic!?! Most conspiracy theories don't make sense nor withstand any inspection. They usually involve operations so huge that it's basically impossible for them to be kept secret, and all the proof given by conspiracy theorists usually have a very simple explanation (usually much simpler than the explanation given by the theorists). RE-9/11 Even when they don't make sense and there's just no proof, many people still believe them. Why? Why are there Liberals? ignorance...... Conspiracy theorists are clever. They use psychology to make their theories sound more plausible. They appeal to certain psychological phenomena which make people to tend to believe them. However, these psychological tricks are nothing more than logical fallacies. They are simply so well disguised that many people can't see them for what they are. The so-called "bandwagon effect" is a psychological phenomenon where people are eager to believe things if most of the people around them believe that too. Sometimes that thing is true and there's no harm, but sometimes it's a misconception, urban legend or, in this case, an unfounded conspiracy theory, in which case the "bandwagon effect" bypasses logical thinking for the worse. The most typical form of appealing to the bandwagon effect is to say something along the lines of "30% of Americans doubt that..." or "30% of Americans don't believe the official story". This is also called an argumentum ad populum, which is a logical fallacy..... sound familiar? Of course that kind of sentence in the beginning of a conspiracy theory doesn't make any sense. It doesn't prove anything relevant. It's not like the theory becomes more true if more people believe in it. "Shotgun argumentation" is a methaphor from real life: It's much easier to hunt a rabbit with a shotgun than with a rifle. This is because a rifle only fires one bullet and there's a high probability of a miss. A shotgun, however, fires tens or even hundreds of small pellets, and the probability of at least one of them hitting the rabbit is quite high. IE if you through enough crap at the wall some of it is bound to stick! Shotgun argumentation has the same basic idea: The more small arguments or "evidence" you present in favor of some claim, the higher the probability that someone will believe you regarldess of how ridiculous those arguments are. There are two reasons for this: "and the straw man argument" is the process of taking an argument of the opponent, distorting it or taking it out of context so that it basically changes meaning, and then ridiculing it in order to make the opponent look bad. For example, a conspiracy theorist may say something like: "Sceptics argue that stars are too faint to see in space (which is why there are no stars in photographs), yet astronauts said that they could see stars." This is a perfect example of a straw man argument. That's taking an argument completely out of context and changing its meaning. It's actually a bit unfortunate that many debunking sites use the sentence "the stars are too faint to be seen" when explaining the lack of stars in photographs. That sentence, while in its context not false, is confusing and misleading. It's trying to put in simple words a more technical explanation (which usually follows). Unfortunately, it's too simplistic and good material for straw man arguments. I wish debunkers stopped using simplistic sentences like that one. There's a very common bad habit among the majority of people: They believe that credible sources have said/written whatever someone claims they have said or written. Even worse, most people believe that a source is credible or even exists just because someone claims that it is credible and exists. People almost never check that the source exists, that it's a credible source and that it has indeed said what was claimed. Conspiracy theorists know this and thus abuse it to the maximum. Sometimes they fabricate sources or stories, and sometimes they just cite nameless sources (using expressions like "experts in the field", "most astronomers", etc). A common tactic of conspiracy theorists is to take statements by credible persons or newspaper articles which support the conspiracy theory and present these statements or articles as if they were the truth. If a later article in the same newspaper corrects the mistake in the earlier article or if the person who made the statement later says that he was wrong or quoted out of context (ie. he didn't mean what people thought he was meaning), conspiracy theorists happily ignore them. Since people seldom check the sources, they will believe that the statement or newspaper article is the only thing that person or newspaper has said about the subject. And cherry-picking is more a deliberate act of deception than a logical fallacy, but nevertheless an extremely common tactic. Cherry-picking happens when someone deliberately selects from a wide variety of material only those items which support the conspiracy theory, while ignoring and discarding those which don't. When this carefully chosen selection of material is then presented as a whole, it easily misleads people into thinking that the conspiracy theory is supported by evidence. This is an especially popular tactic for the 9/11 conspiracy theorists: They will only choose those published photographs which support their claims, while outright ignoring those which don't. The Loose Change "documentary" is quite infamous for doing this, and pulling it out rather convincingly. The major problem with this is, of course, that it's pure deception: The viewer is intentionally given only carefully selected material, while leaving out the parts which would contradict the conspiracy theory. This is a deliberate act. The conspiracy theorists cannot claim honesty while doing clear cherry-picking. Just one example: There's a big electrical transformer box outside the Pentagon which was badly damaged by the plane before it hit the building. It's impossible for that box to get that damage if the building was hit by a missile, as claimed by conspiracy theorists (the missile would have exploded when hitting the box, several tens of meters away from the building). Conspiracy theorists will usually avoid using any photographs which show the damaged transformer box because it contradicts their theory. They are doing this deliberately. They cannot claim honesty while doing this. Scientists are human, and thus imperfect and fallible. Individual scientists can be dead wrong, make the wrong claims and even be deceived into believing falsities. Being a scientist does not give a human being some kind of magic power to resist all deceptions and delusions, to see through all tricks and fallacies and to always know the truth and discard what is false. But science does not stand on individual scientists, for this exact reason. This is precisely why the scientific process requires so-called peer reviews. One scientist can be wrong, ten scientists can be wrong, and even a hundred scientists can be wrong, but when their claims are peer-reviewed and studied by the whole scientific community, the likelihood of the falsities not being caught decreases dramatically. It's very likely that someone somewhere is going to object and to raise questions if there's something wrong with a claim, and this will raise the consciousness of the whole community. Either the objections are dealt with and explained, or the credibility of the claim gets compromised. A claim does not become accepted by the scientific community unless it passes the peer reviewing test. And this is why science works. It does not rely on individuals, but on the whole. However, this is a fallacy named argument from authority. Just because a PhD makes a claim doesn't make it true. Even if a hundred PhD's make that claim. It doesn't even make it any more credible. In this fallacy the word "ignorance" is not an insult, but refers to the meaning of "not knowing something". Conspiracy theorists love abusing the truth. They will make people see patterns where there are none, and people will be fooled into believing that the patterns really are there, and thus are proof of something.]]>

Your fellow teabagger ALSO derided any attempts to treat the document as a living thing that should and could be adapted for the times and wanted only a strict adhehrence to what is actually written. Since that was the challenge poised byt your fellow teabagger, I asked what provision of the Constitution, as written, is being violated. Not any case law that has been implemented based on interpretations of the Constitution, but what is actually there. He (or she) once again brought up taxes. Using his (or hers) criteria for reading of the Contitution, I pointed out that it does explcitily give power to Congress to lvey taxes and does not put any limits on how high the taxes can be. Now, you can argue that common sense and common decency would say that if Congress tried to graab to much in taxes, it's just wrong and I would agree with you. However, it would not pass the criteria set by your fellow teabagger. As for Taxation without Representation, you're absolutely right. This is a concept that people have fought and died for and should be an absolute pillar within any just society. But, again, using the constitutional criteria set by your fellow teabagger, all it is a slogan and not something which is enshrined in the Constitution. As the nine years have gone by, and our nation has struggled to maintain a proper course, an obnoxious and vulgar group has continued to create lies. Those that believe that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job and an elaborate conspiracy. As with most of the conspiracy theorists, the groups grab odd coincidences, wild speculations, out of context quotes and imagination, then shuffle them like a deck of cards and put them together to "prove" a devious collusion. The practice is no different than the chaps that look at Nostradomus's "prophecies" and say, "see, if you take this word and switch these two letters, then flip this letter upside down, it says 'Bush is the Devil.'" Get professional help..... soon. If there was any proof of conspiracy, it would be the largest news story in history. Not posted on the internet along with Sasquatch sightings. The ironically self-named "Truthers" will tell you that the story is not being reported because the media is controlled by the government. Hmmmm... smell the roses... If that is the case, then how did the Watergate, Iran-Contra, Monica Lewinsky, Grover Cleveland's illegitimate son, Whitewater, Alberto Gonzales' dismissal of U.S. attorneys, Thomas Jefferson diddling Sally Hemmings and other Presidential scandals slip through the cracks? You're telling me that not one young, ambitious reporter doesn't want to report this "conspiracy" and win a Pulitzer Prize? When Watergate began to unspool, it did so in the pages of the Washington Post. Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, wait, no ... that's not right ... Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (there, that's better) dug up proof of slush funds, hush money, paper trails, witnesses and had a high ranking government informant - Mark "Deep Throat" Felt - come forward. There was actual evidence to go along with suspicion. Any evidence along those lines for a 9/11 inside job? Nope. Real publications such as Time, Newsweek and Popular Mechanics publish articles disproving the lunacy. But facts, logic and common sense are not as sexy as government conspiracy. It is good to question our leaders. It is good to question our government. However, there is a not-so-fine-line between questioning and crazy. A line you loons left miles behind you as you grabbed bullhorns and started yelling about conspiracies on YouTube. At Ground Zero. There are still a few jokers handing out flyers and yelling their nonsense and spouting their swill. Here are some of the ridiculous claims of the conspiracy theorists. Things that "couldn't happen" or are "impossible." Claim: There is no way that jet fuel can burn hot enough to melt the steel in the World Trade Centers. Therefore, the fires from the planes could not be the cause of the Tower's collapse. Reality: Jet fuel burns at 800 degrees to 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. Steel melts at somewhere in the ballpark of 2,750 degrees. However, the steel did not have to melt like candle wax to cause a collapse. According to the American Institute of Steel Construction, steel loses 50% of it's strength at about 1,000 degrees. In addition, the jet fuel was not the only substance burning. In extreme heat, steel can expand, then sag, then crack, then give way. Claim: As the Towers collapsed, we see small explosions firing outwards ahead of the collapse. Showing additional explosions or "squibs" to help facilitate a controlled demolition. Reality: During the collapse huge pockets of air were being forced down at amazing rates. The force pushed out the air as the floors of the building were, as engineers call it, "pancaking." All the pressure of the collapse rushing down began to pop out windows, shooting debris sideways. A controlled demolition has evenly spaced charges, not sporadic ones randomly firing. Claim: World Trade Center 7 could not have fallen from the damage incurred from the falling Towers and fires inside the building. WTC 7 was taken down in another controlled demolition. This was done - and I'm not making this up, some people believe this - because a "headquarters" was in the building 7 overseeing the operation and the conspirators needed to eliminate the evidence. This is one of the favorite questions the nuts will ask. When you begin to hammer their "ideas," they'll say "Oh yeah, then how did Building 7 fall down?" It's a tactic taught on junior high debate teams. Deflect a question with a question. Before the reality, a common sense question; If there was a need for a base of operations to coordinate the operation, why put it in a building that you would need to destroy when you could set up shop in any one of dozens apartments that overlook the area? Doesn't it seem more trouble than it's worth to blow up a whole building when you could hide your activities in a penthouse? We could be cooking up meth or plotting to assassinate the cast of The View in our Upper West Side flat and nobody would know. In addition, if you knew that by the time building 7 went down that the world's media would be focused on the area, why would you blow it up with everyone watching? Not a very stealthy plan. Reality: A combination of fire and intense structural damage contributed to the collapse of building 7. The fall was what engineers call a "progressive collapse." Video shows cracks in the building's façade just before two of the penthouses fell into the building, starting the fall. A rapid chain reaction occurred from there. Claim: Right before the jets hit, there was a "flash" indicating a missile fired from the modified jets. Reality: For crying out loud. What actually happened is that at that speed, when objects collide, there is a transfer of kinetic energy that can cause a flash. Common sense question; So, as an airplane is flying at about 500 miles per hour, one could fire a missile perfectly timed to less than a hundredth of a second before impact at the exact spot the explosives are planted? Really? Also, if there was a missile strapped to the belly of the plane, how did the pilots and aircraft crew not see a freaking missile attached to the plane before takeoff? They do what is called a "walk around" before every flight, checking the exterior of the plane for any abnormalities. A missile may have caught someone's attention. Claim: Never before has steel structured buildings collapsed due to fire. Reality: Also never happened before; two jumbo jets full of thousands of gallons of combustible fuel crashed into buildings. What makes you think you could predict exactly what would happen? By that logic, every house fire would be exactly the same. Go ask your local firefighter that question. Fire is an unpredictable beast. Claim: The Pentagon was not hit by a Boeing 757 but by a missile because the hole in the building is not big enough. Reality: Now we get into the really stupid. Do you think there would be a perfectly-punched airplane shaped hole like when Bugs Bunny runs through a brick wall? Number of eye witnesses on the record who say they saw a plane hit the Pentagon = about 150. Number that saw a missile = a bagel. The nuts will tell you that there isn't plane wreckage found. Absolutely wrong. There are dozens of pictures of wreckage. (Maybe after the crash some conspirators made their way onto the site with wheelbarrows and planted the debris.) Then they'll say there wasn't enough wreckage. So, by your same logic, any debris from a missile? Nope. Any evidence of a missile or unmanned drone? Absolutely not. I've read the theories of military planes being used in the attacks. "It wasn't an airliner, there wasn't any windows." (Of course a row of windows was found in the rubble.) Any photos of those "military planes?" No? Common sense question; If this was an elaborately planned event and you needed to make it look like commercial jets, why risk a military jet being photographed? There are beliefs that the people on the hijacked planes were taken to a facility and unloaded, or that they were conspirators themselves. Damn any of you that believe that. I hope you say that to one of the grieving families of those that died in the crashes and they kick your teeth in. One of the most amazingly moronic theories is - again, there really are dopes that believe this - that NO planes hit anywhere. What we saw was doctored CGI footage on television and photo-shopped pictures. What thousands saw in lower Manhattan was a "hologram" projected into the morning sky. Common sense question; Were there technicians planted at every local news station and every network to doctor the footage? Someone faking the thousands of still photographs? Was Industrial Light and Magic hired to create the illusion? This one is almost too dumb to mock. But if a photo that nobody cares about of a shark jumping out of San Francisco Bay attacking a helicopter pilot can be shown to be fake, I'm pretty sure the most covered news story in history would have a few people examining photographs. A hologram in the sky and faked footage is more plausible than hijacked airplanes crashing into the Towers? Common sense question; If you already had the buildings wired with heavy explosives and Al Qaeda set to take to fall, why crash airplanes in the first place? Doesn't that provide a wildly difficult operation where too much can go wrong? Why not blow up the buildings and name the patsies? How many people do you crackpots think could be in on this? With absolutely no concrete evidence, this is one thing that kills these paranoid delusions. Three people can keep a secret. If two of them are dead. If you listen to these idiots, there would be the White House staff, government officials, explosives experts, explosive manufacturers, pilots, people planting bombs, Pentagon employees, Saudi's, Jimmy Hoffa, military officials, the cast of Lost, CIA, FBI, Secret Service, salvage companies, do I really need to keep going? When we talk about hypothetical "impossibilities," here's mine; No group that large can either keep a secret or not leave a paper trial or a money trail or a trail of breadcrumbs. Dozens if not hundreds involved and nobody comes forward to cut a deal for immunity and name names? Not one guilt-ridden conspirator or patriotic staffer? Maybe Oswald didn't act alone when he killed Jack Kennedy in '63. But if you think it was more than a half dozen involved, you're out of your mind. People talk. They want to tell others they are in the know. That they have the skinny. The scuttlebutt. Sometimes for vanity, sometimes out of duty. But a group of more than twenty-five people keeping a secret this big would rival the odds of being struck by lightening while a shark chomps your leg off and your winning lottery numbers are being called on the six o'clock news. Final common sense questions; Do you really think there was a few dozen guys dressed in UPS uniforms were sneaking around the World Trade Center building for weeks planting explosives? Then airplanes could hit the spot where the explosives are planted to start the demolition? If you do, I have the deed to the Brooklyn Bridge and am considering selling. Let's talk. All this being said, this is the main reason I hate these people. Those that spread this unsubstantiated nonsense. Why I hate a sonofabitch like James Fetzer at "Scholars" for 9/11 Truth and the hacks that made the laughable Loose Change "documentary." (One of the producers of that film is a guy named Korey Rowe. I never trust a man named Korey spelled with a K. Under any circumstances.) The half-cocked theories are really about selling books. And DVD's. And collecting fees for lectures at conspiracy conventions. These swine are profiting off this garbage. Taking advantage of the natural human desire to know more than you are supposed to. It's why the gullible buy tabloids with the headline "Inside Brangelina's Relationship!" The tabloid rags are not inside anyone's relationship. The motivation for the distribution of these crazy-go-nuts theories is greed masked by phony patriotism. If there wasn't money to be made, these jokers would slip into the shadows. It is my belief that we must question any of these poisonous elements that are making money off their claims. The banshees scream "why won't the government answer my questions? Why won't they release the black box recordings?" I'll tell you why. Because that would give credibility to these fringed elements of lunacy. Why address the irresponsible and delusional? My friends, there is reason to question the direction of our country. There are real issues that should be debated so the public can make their own educated opinion. The empty anomalies and ridiculous speculation about our government cooking up the worst disaster on American soil is not one of them. When the crazies shout questions about not enough bones found in the Flight 93 crash site and claim the Saudi hijackers are still alive, don't bite. Only ask for evidence for any of their claims. Sure, a few odd things don't have an answer. But no claim of government collusion dealing with the terrorist attacks on 9/11 has any merit. What happened on that horrible day, unfortunately, is 19 hateful, delusional, religious zealots hijacked airplanes and managed to crash three of them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Like the iceberg that sunk the Titanic, sometimes a seemingly innocuous enemy can take down a mighty opponent. That infamous maritime disaster started with a few holes popped into the hull from a still iceberg. Two and half hours later, the mighty Titanic was gone. You want to write books about UFO's and Sasquatch and The Loch Ness Monster, fine. That's funny. It's harmless storytelling. But when we talk about 9/11, you are dealing with thousands of families that were damaged by that day. That day created widows, widowers and orphans. Friends of mine were there. <![CDATA[All week-end long, we've been treated to House Leadership and the White House confidently asserting that health care is going to pass. "We'll have the votes when the House votes, I think, within the next week," said Robert Gibbs. Yahoo's headlining an article "Pelosi confident House will pass health care bill.". David Axelrod says Democrats, "will have the votes to pass this." So, things are looking good for the Democrats? No, to the contrary, the news has been Hindenburg crashing into the Titanic bad for the Democrats. So if the news is so bad, why are we hearing all these confident pronouncements? Because the House Leadership and White House are trying to game the House Democrats. If they create this sense that the bill is inevitable, as opposed to dying like a still barely twitching piece of roadkill, they can sucker Democrats into voting for it. However, here's the real situation. * This is an extremely unpopular bill that's not getting any more popular. I know, liberals have been trying to claim that the numbers for the bill are improving -- and they have in meaningless polls of adults. In polls of likely voters, you know, the people who will be deciding whether or not members of Congress are fired in November, the terrible numbers haven't moved significantly since November. The other left-wing polling claims "Ooooh, if we only poll people on the parts they like, the bill does well" and "The bill will surely get much more popular after it's passed despite the fact that most of the benefits don't kick in until 2014" are so patently ridiculous that I'm not even going to treat them seriously (If there are lots of people who really don't get this, maybe I'll do a post on it tomorrow, but it's just silly). * The Democratic leadership has given up on the Stupak block. This is a big deal, because despite some rather mopey comments from Stupak, he represents somewhere between 10-11 "yes" votes that will be flipping to "no" over abortion. If Pelosi had been able to get the bill through the first time without this block of Congressmen, she would have done it. Since then, the bill has only gotten more unpopular. If she couldn't get the votes before, why would she be able to get them now? * Because Obama will have to sign the bill working its way through the House before the Senate can start on reconciliation, there is no guarantee reconciliation will ever happen. In fact, odds are, reconciliation will never be completed. This is a big deal because Democrats in the House are fully aware of this and not too long ago, even Pelosi was saying that passing a bill without reconciliation was a non-starter. This is from the New York Times on Jan 21 of this year: The House speaker, Nancy Pelosi of California, said on Thursday that Democrats remained committed to passing far-reaching health care legislation, but she said that the House would not simply adopt the Senate version of the bill and send it to President Obama... ...“Unease would be a gentle word in terms of the attitude of my colleagues toward certain provisions in the Senate bill,” Ms. Pelosi said. “So in its present form without any change,” she added, “I don’t think it’s possible to pass the Senate bill in the House.” She singled out a provision for the federal government to pay the entire cost of a proposed expansion of Medicaid in Nebraska, even though other states will eventually have to share the expense, which was added to the Senate bill by the majority leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, to win the vote of Senator Ben Nelson, the Nebraska Democrat. Ms. Pelosi said she believed provisions like that contributed to the concerns of voters in Massachusetts. “There’s some fundamentals in there that make it problematic for our members,” Ms. Pelosi said. “Some members say, and I respect this, some of the concerns that were expressed in Massachusetts were about certain provisions of the Senate bill. We want, obviously, to hear and heed what was said there and what is said across the country.” Speaking of her rank-and-file, she added, “They don’t see why something that wasn’t even a fundamental part of the bill to begin with, that has been rejected by the American people, is something they should be called upon to vote for.” Now, less than two months later, Nancy Pelosi is asking her members to vote for the Cornhusker Kickback, Louisiana Purchase, Gator Aid, and all the rest -- even though they don't like the Senate bill "as is" and can't add any sweeteners without reconciliation. Meanwhile, both the Senate and the House are resorting to arcane legislative tricks to pass a wildly unpopular takeover of 1/6 of the US economy without a single Republican vote in the House and Senate -- and this is in a post-Scott Brown political landscape. Time is not on their side either. Every day brings the Democrats closer to an election where this bill will be political death for anyone supporting it in a swing district -- and it's not going to be forgotten. That's why they're desperate to get an up or down vote now, before the Easter break, when the shaky Democrats know they'll be screamed at by their constituents over the mere prospect that they might support this bill. Can you imagine what it will be like for blue dogs who support this bill over Easter break? Trust me: they've imagined it and they'll be thinking about it before they vote. But, you say: Can't they just twist enough arms to get this done? Now see, that's going to be very, very difficult in this case. Why? Well, they can't change the Senate bill because they can't get it back through the Senate. That means they can't shove any new earmarks in the bill. Even if they could, the payoff wouldn't be worth it -- ask Ben Nelson about that. Of course, the President could do a fund raiser and campaign for candidates in trouble. But, as The Politco has noted, moderate Democrats are already trying to keep Obama out of their districts: Interviews with nearly a dozen congressional Democrats on the ballot this year reveal a decided lack of enthusiasm for having Obama come to their districts to campaign for them — the most basic gauge of a president’s popularity. Some cite the president’s surely busy schedule. Others point to a practice of not bringing in national politicians to appear on their behalf. While these members aren’t necessarily attempting to distance themselves from the administration, there is nevertheless a noticeable reluctance to embrace the president among a certain class of incumbent, now that Obama’s approval rating has fallen to a new low — 46 percent in the latest Gallup survey. It’s not an unusual development — President George W. Bush suffered a similar fate. As his popularity dipped and he became a more polarizing figure, few moderate Republicans wanted to be seen with him in their states for fear the association would be used against them by their rivals. ...But the sense of uncertainty over what to do with Obama seen last year in Virginia — in which Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds wrestled with whether to run with or from the president before ultimately embracing him in the campaign’s final weeks — now seems to be evolving into a firmer feeling among many centrist Democrats that they’d be better off without Obama appearing in their districts with them. The White House got a taste of the awkwardness to come last week in Missouri, when Democratic Senate candidate Robin Carnahan and Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.) were both no-shows at a fundraiser Obama keynoted in suburban St. Louis. (Sen. Claire McCaskill, an early Obama supporter who received some of the event’s proceeds for her 2012 reelection campaign, did attend.) Here's the basic problem: There's probably nothing that Obama and Pelosi can offer Democrats in competitive districts that could even come close to making up for the damage that voting for this bill would do. That's why the vote count looks so terrible. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given how connected they are, The Hill has the best whip count of anywhere I've seen online. Their tally? There are 35 Democrats in the "Firm No, Leaning No, Likely No" category. The maximum number of Democrats who can defect and pass a bill? 37. The number of previous "yes" votes included in that number? 8. Keep in mind -- Stupak supposedly has 10-11 "yes" votes that are willing to switch to "no" and at least 2 of the current "yes" to "no" votes aren't Stupak language supporters. Put another way, there are already another 4-5 firm "no" votes out there in the "undecided category." Now, you may be wondering: how many Democrats are currently in the "undecided" category? It can't be many, right? After all, Nancy Pelosi is so confident even though there appear to be enough "no" votes out there already to kill the bill. Actually, there are 72 undecided votes. If you assume that 4-5 of them are unannounced "no" votes from the Stupak block, Pelosi would have to convert every undecided vote to a "yes" and then pick up a few of the "no" leaners to pull this off. Now Pelosi will undoubtedly get a decent number of undecided votes, but can she really run the table and then some? Keep in mind that this isn't even a complete list of the "undecideds" because "some members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus who are not mentioned below have threatened to vote no unless the Senate's immigration-related provisions are changed." Moreover, the polling data on health care in some of these undecided districts is even worse than it is nationally. Take a look at these Tarrance Group polls of some of the "Undecided/No" districts: The numbers show ominous news for House Democrats Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, Betsy Markey of Colorado, Baron Hill of Indiana, John Adler of New Jersey, Steve Driehaus and John Boccieri of Ohio, Dina Titus of Nevada, Mike McMahon of New York, and Jason Altmire and Chris Carney of Pennsylvania. The highest level of support for the bill is 40 percent, in Titus and McMahon’s districts; even there, opposition runs 52 percent and 46 percent, respectively. The lowest level of support is in Carney’s district, at 28 percent. Opposition is pretty strong across the board, lowest at 46 percent in McMahon’s district, highest in Markey’s and Carney’s districts at 58 percent. Voters in every district said the vote would be “very” important to their decision this November, ranging from 63 percent in Giffords’s district to 81 percent in Altmire’s district. While the sample size is a bit small, there’s not much reason to think this poll doesn’t catch the public mood fairly accurately. Last fall, Giffords, Hill, Driehaus, Titus, and Carney voted "yes"; Adler, Markey*, McMahon, Boccieri, and Altmire voted "no." This isn't a "yes" vote for these candidates, it's sticking their neck in a political guillotine and waiting for it to be lopped off in November. Incidentally, just in case you're wondering, there has yet to be a single Democrat who voted "no" last time who has committed to voting "yes" this time around. There's not even one so far. Now, I can't guarantee you that this bill isn't going to pass. Obama is a corrupt, autocratic, Chicago punk who doesn't give a d@mn what the American people want. If he can get this bill through, he'll do it. But the odds are heavily stacked against this bill passing and it seems very unlikely that the Democrats can shove it through. ]]>

Fringe anti-government activists from both the far right and the far left circulated conspiracy theories that implicated the U.S. government in the attacks. Most theories focused on the government’s alleged desire to create a war in the Middle East in order to seize or control oil supplies there; others alleged that the government had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks, but permitted them so that it would be able to suspend or curtail civil liberties in their wake. A strengthened central government — and a general public more supportive of it — would pave the way for the rapid installation of the "New World Order." The most common anti-government conspiracy theory, emanating from both the left and the right, is that the U.S., working with oil companies, wanted to build an oil pipeline through Afghanistan in order to control energy resources and maintain world hegemony. This could only be achieved through a war with Afghanistan, followed by another war with Iraq to seize that country's oil supplies. Writer Gore Vidal promoted this theory at length in an article for a London newspaper, The Observer, in October 2002 and later, in a book. Vidal claimed that the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan had nothing to do with Osama bin Laden, that the Islamic leader was "simply a pretext for replacing the Taliban with a relatively stable government that would allow Union Oil of California to lay its pipeline for the profit of, among others, the Cheney-Bush junta." Another set of conspiracy theories focused on the Carlyle Group, a private equity investment firm, which had employed George Bush, Sr., and invested in defense and telecommunications 24 Unraveling Anti-Semitic 9/11 Conspiracy Theories The cover of the conspiracy-oriented magazine Free American asks who the real enemy is behind 9/11. They include an alleged CIA meeting with bin Laden at a hospital in Dubai in July 2001; the government's use of remote-control devices to guide the planes that crashed into the WTC and the Pentagon; and the government's use of bombs or missiles to carry out the 9/11 attacks. The 9/11 Conspiracy Theory Industry Both anti-government and anti-Semitic 9/11 conspiracy theories have grown to such an extent that they form a whole new industry that includes books, pamphlets, videotapes, Web sites and speakers who fill halls with people eager to hear new "evidence" about 9/11. Numerous books focusing on the various conspiracy theories have been published since the attacks, and they originate from groups and individuals all along the political spectrum. There are also Web sites solely devoted to 9/11 conspiracy theories. Works about 9/11 conspiracies range from small tracts to books with encyclopedic detail, including diagrams explaining how the government was able to carry out the attacks. Sometimes an anti-Jewish agenda is obvious. The Creativity Movement (under their former name World Church of the Creator), for instance, published "The Truth about 9-11: How Jewish Manipulation Killed Thousands." Unsurprisingly, the premise of the book is to prove that Israel "and their Jewish cohorts abroad" knew about the attacks in advance.
