I drive a truck so i'm hesitant to take more than 1 rider because riding in the back for 8 hours tends to suck. Gas is about 80 there, so it would be a 40 dollar trip to make an estimate, but the plus side is that if you had anything you needed to haul over, there would be a whole lot of room for that. In the evenings, we leave downtown Tacoma at 4:55 p.m. and arrive at the 65th & Ravenna Park & Ride in Seattle at approximately 5:50 p.m. We do not make stops along I-5. The cost of the vanpool includes a free King County Metro bus pass each month if you apply for the bus pass by the Metro deadline. The vanpool cost is based on the number of riders in the vanpool and the monthly mileage, but it usually is about $86 a month. Some employers pay part or all of an employee's vanpool costs. Riding the vanpool is just a one month commitment, which you can renew each month if you like it. Most riders in our vanpool have been in it for a long time. I could get in Saturday morning but that is cutting it kinda close for a volunteer shift. If you are concerned about space I can arrange to have supplies dropped off during the event. Would, at the very least, be me and a heavy backpack Will be my second time at burning man. I am young but responsible and can help driving vehicles (including large manual trans. bus). I am a male. Live in Olympia but can travel to Seattle, Portland, Eugene, and Puget Sound areas. I have spent time in the areas in between here and NV and know the surrounding landscapes if you are looking to learn more! Tips for traveling from Cascadia/the Northwest to Black Rock City: *Fill up with gas around Klamath Falls. There is not much between there and CA.gas stations. It ought be cheaper too. *The Wagonwheel in Alturas is a great homestyle diner *Before you leave California you will cross the Modoc Mountains (after Alturas) into a small community called Surprise Valley. Cedarville is a small town with a poor community and can use tourism money. They love burners, and this is the last place to buy probably anything before reaching Gerlach. Stock up on gas, water, and ice cream. The corner store has tons of information about Surprise Valley History, Wilderness parks, BLM, etc. *The Surprise Valley has three big alkai lakes that are similar to the Black Rock playa.Stop and enjoy them. If you can spare a short amount of time to admire from an absolutely stunning lookout and have a vehicle that can handle well maintained gravel roads here are the directions. After Eagleville a short distance, the highway (which up to this point has been hypnotically straight) veers to the left and a small residential road continues straight. Continue on the highway for 2.0 miles (3.5 past Eagleville) and take a right on the road with the cattle guard leading up into the S. Warner Wilderness and the Modoc National Forest (The second right after the highway veers). About 2 miles up is a great lookout over the valley. There are tons of black tailed deer, antelope, and cattle that graze freely through this high desert. ]]>
