I was able to divide the living/bed area with a bookcase from IKEA, it's been absolutely ideal for me to live in by myself. I think the deposit is $1,000 and you pay electricity/phone service (optional, of course), internet, gas heat. The building pays for sewer/garbage, hot water. Laundry in the building. Street parking. The rent and deposit may have changed but I'll get you in touch with the man who can talk over the specifics. The credit app was $40 for me, but this was about a year ago, so it may have gone up. <![CDATA[We live in a communal, DIT (do-it-together)-minded house on Capitol Hill, and we're currently looking for someone to sublet for three months, from January 1st to April 1st. We’re looking for someone who is queer or queer friendly, vegan or vegan friendly, clean (at least –ish), and mindful of how much space they take up and interested in community! <br> <br> The house is a three-story fortress on Harvard Ave E, right behind the Broadway Dick's. We have four bathrooms, two kitchens, laundry, a big deck with a grill and tons of space for bikes behind the gate, a huge living room where we like to host community meetings, potlucks, shows, stich-n-bitching, and the occasional guest. We keep a totally vegan kitchen -- what you eat elsewhere's your own business -- because while not all of us are vegan, we like to share. We bulk order a lot of staples (flour, rice, oil, oats, &c.), do a fair amount of <br> dumpstering and going to free markets, and have spontaneous Sunday brunches. We're also committed to having a safe space and working on our shit with regards to privilege, and work on consensus with monthly house meetings. We share general chores and house maintenance, but we have a tendency to be cluttered. We have a 16-year-old mini-pincher who lives here and dutifully picks up crumbs when we're here. We also have one in-door male cat who loves attention and trying to sneak out the windows. Just this month two more kittens moved in, but are staying with their caretakers in the basement for now... So we've got our fill on the animals, we can't accept anymore pets. <br> <br> The room available is on the top floor. It's a fairly spacious room, with quite a decent sized closet with two full mirrored doors. It has a skylight which gets the room surprisingly bright. It's very cozy, rarely cold, carpeted, and one of the favorite rooms of Birdie the cat. It also comes fully furnished with a queen sized bed, desk, dresser, and bookshelf. <br> <br> Rent is $397/mo plus a share of utilities (gas, electricity, water/sewage/garbage and optional wireless internet). Utilities usually run about $20 a month per person, and then that just about doubles in winter.
