<![CDATA[Lighting Technician – Staybright Electric of Colorado, Inc. As a Lighting Technician, you will maintain and repair various types of lighting fixtures and components in an array of applications. SBE services both interior and exterior lighting. Safe operation of lift equipment is essential as we operate; scissor lifts, bucket trucks, boom lifts, and use ladders. The scope of our services requires a fundamental understanding of electricity. SBE’s mainstay is large retail chains that have locations throughout the nation. Many of the stores are located in cities that we must efficiently travel to. We typically base lighting techs in metro markets where stores are a daily commute. Far flung stores are route schedules and often require a full week of overnight travel, leave Monday AM, return home Friday PM or upon completion of the assigned stores. It is not very common to need to work on any weekend days. We do have eight paid holidays per year and vacation pay depending on employment tenure. We pay in the form of an annual salary. There are twenty-six, two week pay periods per year, paid every other Friday. Employee evaluations are performed annually. Company vehicles are provided to perform Staybright Electric activity. Though you may be allowed to use the company vehicle to travel to and from home and work, we cannot and do not provide vehicles for personal use. SBE lighting technicians usually work in pairs, two techs per work truck or at the service location. Though most all work is performed during daily business hours, we do however perform some larger projects as an overnight (graveyard) shift. An example of an overnight project would be what is known in the lighting industry as a relamp. A relamp is changing out all existing lamps (light bulbs) with new. We typically do relamps with three to six techs depending upon variables. SBE provides trustworthy employees with a company credit card to pay for fuel and truck services, motel accommodations, and miscellaneous materials. While traveling out of town, employees are allowed to claim a $25 per day per diem allowance. We expect employees to have a cell phone and to answer when called. SBE pays an $80 per month cell phone allowance. These allowances are reimbursed after an expense report is submitted properly. After 90 days of employment an employee may also claim their portion of a personal or family health insurance premium. SBE will reimburse 50% of the employee’s portion of the monthly premium, up to a maximum of $200 per month. After 90 days of employment an employee can participate in the company’s retirement savings plan. SBE will match (up to 3%) employee contributions to a personal simple IRA. Due to SBE’s contractual commitments to our valued customers, we must assure that our employees meet our qualifications of employment. Applicants must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. We also perform random drug screens. SBE is DOT compliant and all applicants are required to take a DOT physical. If the physical is not passed, it may restrict what type of duties you can perform here and in turn may effect your application. It is best to have an interest in the lighting industry but it is equally important to have a good attitude and work ethic. Good workers can be trained as needed. The amount of overnight travel required varies and is often unforeseeable, we have little advance notice. Overnight travel is the single greatest cause of family strife for SBE employees.
