Our partner, Glowfly Games, specializes in family, kid, and educational games. We are looking for a few teachers to help us create some activity plans/lesson plans to support some of our games. These activity plans will be made available on Glowfly's website as free downloads for parents, teachers, and librarians. Glowfly Games is a small, newly-formed game studio that creates analog games (board, card, tile, etc) for families, kids, and educators. We pride ourselves in producing high quality games that are fun for adults and kids to play together--true family games that involve and challenge the entire family. All our games have an educational component, although we don't suck out all the fun with boring and dry lessons -- our games use great dynamics, fun play mechanisms, and simple to learn rules to teach valuable lessons such as communication skills, teamwork, cooperation, and socialization (and hey, if there's some lessons on reading, math, or foreign languages thrown in, we won't tell). Glowfly Games is committed to providing educators with tools to use our games in classroom and home settings. As such, we're looking for some current teachers to help us create curriculum and lesson/activity plans centered around our games. Lesson Plans/Activity Guides should be targeted to specific age/grade ranges (ie, K-2 or High School). They should provide activities for before-game play, suggestions on how to use the game in a classroom or library setting, and activities for post-game play. Additionally, they should provide a range of activities for students at multiple levels of learning. Many of our games will feature rules in both English and Spanish, and activities for English language learns will be appreciated. These activity plans will be provided as free downloads on our website for anyone looking for fun ways to explore our games - from Kindergarten coloring sheets for Alphabet Soup to High School economics lessons for Globalization. Peggy Hunt joined Burien’s theater scene in 1960 with a leading role in the play Harvey. Originally from Canada, the Hunts were familiar with Canadian play competitions and were instrumental in igniting this idea locally. Content covers a wide range of information of interest to visitors, such as basic area overviews and articles on attractions, activities, neighborhoods, nightlife, history and events. Assigned tasks will include writing stories, blogging for live cities, copy editing other interns work, and submitting typos and broken links while each guide is in beta.
