We need just a few more stories for this volume: We are looking for Seattle area writers in the vein of Bukowski, Fante, Dahl, Mosley, Lapham, Bowles, Hammett, Welsh, Capote, Hemmingway, et al. to be a part of “Sleeping with Snakes Vol. 2: Notes from the Seattle Underbelly”. We recently published “Sleeping with Snakes: Notes from the Los Angeles Underbelly” [ www.sleepingwithsnakes.com ]. We’re now looking to place volume two in Seattle. The idea is to get a collection of stories from new, up and coming writers based in Seattle (or even writers that have been around a while – who might just be looking for some new outlets). The stories do not have to be based in Seattle, the authors should be though. (These are not hard and fast rules) There are no guidelines here, but we’re mostly looking for stories, poems or anything else of sub-culture interest; drugs, relationships, drinking, true crime, gutters, thievery, cheating, lying, etc. Some writers in volume one used chapters from novels they were working on. One author used portions of their screenplay as a submission - you get the idea. This book will come out independently in 2010 or early 2011. The book will be compiled and edited by Ron Sievers [ Owner and President of Orange Recordings - www.orangerecordings.com ]. The book will be soft cover and feature 25-30 writers. 270 b/w pages. 4 color cover. Perfect bound, 8.5" x 5.5". The Process: Submit a few paragraphs for us to review. Once we have enough submissions (the first volume had over 150), we then ask for the complete work. If we choose to include it, we will send over a contract and then begin the layout and publishing of the book. Please note that we are only requesting the rights to include your story in this book.
