So heres the deal. We are husband wife with 2 children. My husband was injured on the job in June 2006 and was out of work for almost 8 mths after battling from staph and bone infection. He returned to work after that and was allowed to work for 2 weeks and then was let go and was told he was not needed anymore.During the 8mths we tryed to hold on to everything. We went through our savings, money for a wedding and still had to borrow from family. But the end result was we just couldnt hold on and had to let eveything go from our vehicles to our home. My husband found a job pretty quickly that even offered dental and things were going well. We had started seeing a dentist and with out notice his company shut there doors. He has gotten another job but the company he is working for does NOT offer any type of medical or dental. My teeth are so bad that anything I eat sends pain up my body.Im am in the need of quite a few fillings.Especially in my front teeth as I can actually feel the cavity holes getting bigger. Then you have my 11year old daughter. She is a wonderful kid great grades but depressed and has very bad self esteem. She is not in need of fillings but braces. The dentist we were seeing said she has the worse teeth he has ever seen. She dont smile and it is affecting her self esteem greatly. She is very embarrassed. We had planned on trying to have both of our teeth fixed by Christmas but without some help its not gonna happen. We dont have alot of money as we are like lots of other people that struggle week to week to pay bills to keep them from being disconnected.I do understand that dental offices do offer payment plans but with bad credit due to the injury they cant do anything for us.I would be able to pay a SMALL monthly amount but not much. If you can help or know anyone or any place that could please let me know.I would really like to make this happen for my daughter as she has been through so much with watching everything we had be taken away. I was just like to brighten her day and to see her smile.Thank you very much.

We are doing a project with ECPAT-USA, which is part of a global network of organizations and individuals working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes.

Our project examines the role that the travel industry plays in preventing child sex tourism. We're trying to get a better idea of the awareness and opinions of travelers. Little research has been done on this issue, so we put together our own survey.

Child sex tourism is the commercial sexual exploitation of children by men or women who travel from one place to another, usually from a richer country to one that is less developed, and there engage in sexual acts with children, defined as anyone under the age of 18.

Also, feel free to send this around to friends - the more answers we get, the better.

Thanks!

I am looking for something My husband and I and our children can do to volunteer somewhere for the holidays? We have 7 children and this year we are having a hard time we both lost our jobs and well finding a job isnt as easy as it sounds. So we are not able to buy for our children for christmas. Other than we bought them all 1 gift each. We thought since we were having a hard time that we would teach them the true meaning of Christmas this year. Its not about what you get but about giving and making a diferance in someones life. Our children are 17(g) 15(g) 12(b) 5(g) 4(b) and we have a 2(b) and 10 month (b) but they are little and dont understand anyway. To often theese days children are too selfish and we dont want to raise our kids that way. So instead of feeling sorry for our selves and not being able to go buy them whatever they wish we want to make a differance. If any one knows of a place please let me know. We will be giving them a bigger gift than we could ever buy in a store.

Thank you and GOD BLESS

Your smile, companionship, and a few hours a
month can improve the quality of
someone’s life, including yours.

Volunteering for hospice is a rewarding experience. As a hospice volunteer, you will be trained by team members on the hospice concept and philosophy, bereavement, medical aspects of hospice care, confidentiality, documentation, and much more.

Volunteers provide friendly visits to patients and families in their homes and at nursing homes. You can help by sharing conversation, listening to someone's stories and special memories, sitting quietly with someone so they are not alone, holding a hand, reading, sharing news and current events, writing letters, laughing and listening. However, many times the most important thing the volunteer offers is the gift of their presence. Qualifications are being 16 years of age, TB testing at no cost to you, passing criminal background checks, and having a desire to give back, listen, and comfort others. Please consider joining us for our next training session and learning all hospice has to offer our communities. Volunteers work flexible hours, in areas of their choice close to home, school or work, and are needed across Florissant and Norht County.

Hours are flexible, and include days, evenings and weekends, ranging between an hour a week to an hour a month, however we understand each person's circumstance and availability is unique, and some give more or less time as they are able. To learn more about this rewarding opportunity contact Anna Lehrke, Volunteer Coordinator for Pathways Community Hospice at 636-733-7399 or respond by email to this posting.

We now have 4 wonderful people that are cleaning our cages during the week. I am now trying to recruit some weekend warriors for the reserves. I'm asking for 4 people/teams to work one weekend a month (3 whole hours - Friday, Saturday, Sunday) taking care of our rescued cats at Petsmart. These cats are wonderful and promising future family members. They just need a little help with their cages to keep them presentable.

My testimony:
Volunteering turns your life around. This time last year, I had had a rough couple of years that were emotionally exhausting and nothing ever seemed to go right. Since I started volunteering for the rescue from where I adopted my cat, Billy the Kid, things have turned toward the positive. I don't know if my reaction to life has changed because I feel good about helping or if because I am giving out love and assistance to these animals that need it, but it's coming back to me many times over. I don't worry about anything anymore. It seems like whenever I need something, I don't even have to ask. Whether it's God or the universe or just pure luck, it feels great to do something good.

A local rescue is seeking volunteers to help maintain the cat cages at the Petsmart at Chippewa and Kingshighway. If you give us 1 hour each week, I promise it won't even seem like work. These are rescued animals from a high-kill shelter and showing them off at Petsmart is a great way for them to get public exposure so they can get adopted and find forever homes. We can only keep them there with your help.

Also, if you want to bring a friend and split the work - that's fine with us. The more the merrier. One person can play with the cats while the other one cleans the cages. The time will go by fast. If you want to see how it works before committing to the time, let me know, I can meet you there and show you the ropes.

I always tell people that I compare it to rocking babies in a nursery – you get to hold the babies and so what if you have to change a few diapers… The peace is therapudic.

Reply via email or contact Elaine at 314-645-1767. Full training provided. Flexible Hours. We need your help!

Please be 18 or over. Thanks!

It is not that uncommon to hear the phrase save the rainforest, but this means more than just stopping the bulldozers. The clear cutting of unspoiled rainforest needs to stop but this is a symptom; not the actual problem. Perhaps individuals, corporations, and governments wouldn’t be so quick to exhaust their natural resources if they saw any other option.
